Nothing's Better.

Better..?

"Is this the engagement ring?" she said to me, with a rather weird look on her face. "Yeah?" I snared back. What was it to her? "I mean... it's eh." She said shrugging her shoulders and crossing her arms, letting go of my hand. "It's my ring, and I like it that's all that matters." I hissed back, she kinda just looked at me and then walked back to her desk.

I could hear them still talking about my ring. God, what is it with these ladies? "If you have something to say, say it to my face," I said facing my computer. I heard rustling, and footsteps approaching. She walked over to my desk swiveled my chair around, and looked me in the eyes. "I said I could get you something better," she said, with a slight soft smirk. "Too bad you love this one." She said bringing her face closer to mine. She then let go and walked back to her desk, giggling on the way.

What the hell just happened, and why is the office getting hotter.

I spent the day thinking, and replaying that moment in my mind. God what is wrong with her? She obviously has no manners..I looked down at my ring, the way it sparkled a little under the weak office lights. Nothing could be better than this.. "I don't care about prices anyways.." I murmured to myself, mocking her tone. Hearing more footsteps, which I linked to my boss, I got out of my daydreams and got back to work or at least tried to make it look like I was doing 'something'.

Jaylen walked in with a big stack of papers, it seemed like another project that was gonna take ages. "Alright. Our Social Media team has been coming up with new ways to promote our new product.." she said throwing the stack of papers onto the desk. "A couple, but since we have mainly women here..and most of the men wouldn't be up to the task.." she paused for a second, and looked around "we're gonna have two women instead."

Two women..? I'm not homophobic but..will this even work? I sat there and thought of all the hate and backlash we would get?? Would people even like this..My parents would definitely tell me to quit

"Alaia." someone said from behind me, I turned around and it was Gia. Of course, was she here to make fun of my ring again? "Ok if you're here to" she stopped me, and smiled "We got picked for the project" she said, small smile

"We got picked for the project." said said.. with a small smile.

Me? I got picked. What do i even say to this.. and can i reject it. Alaia what are you gonna do, you just got proposed to and this might ruin your relationship. Alaia you have to reject the offer, but what if you get fired? Alaia. I felt a cold hand on my shoulder, the soft touch sent a shiver throughout my body, and set a light off in my brain. I looked up eyes watering a little.

"Alaia are you ok?!" Gia said with a panicked looked on her face "Yes.. I'm just a little stuffy I'm fine!" Obviously lying, "So whats first.." I finished looked back down at my computer wiping my eyes dry. I started on my slides for the project, and heard Gia walk away in the background. Working with her was definitely gonna be interesting.

When I got home all the lights were off, like no one was home. Bryan usually gets off around this time so I was confused but too tired to make a fuss. When i walked in bedroom there was a note on the bed.

[ Hey love, I know this week has been stressful for you so I did a little something... Love Bryan.] it read.

I smiled, and pushed my brown hair behind my ear. I took off my shoes and walked into the bathroom, in the bathtub there was a bubble bath waiting for me with rose petals floating around. It smelled of Vanilla and Cream my favorite scent and my favorite foods were sitting on the side of the bath. I slowly walked over, and undressed. This is what i needed. Nothing's better than this. I splashed the warm water in my shoulders, and moved the bubbles up my chest the smell of the candles and warm water was making me sleepy.

I haven't had a bath like this since i first moved here. I reached over and grabbed some bubbles to run across my legs, the popping sound of the bubbles was so soothing...I closed my eyes and let the water swallow me. I envisioned myself walking on clouds, not caring about anything..it was everything I wanted at my touch.

But I saw her.

I opened my eyes quickly, and sat up. Breathing a little fast I splashed water on my face to calm myself down. What the fuck? Mood ruined I got out and put on my robe. I went to the couch to watch TV until Bryan got home..Right Bryan. Where is he?

"Hey Alaia." I heard a familiar voice behind me. I smiled turning around to see him. He had on his best suit today, hair nice and comb back just like i liked it. I laughed to myself  "Who are you getting all dressed up for..?" I said smiling. He bent over the couch and gave me a kiss "Business meeting today." he said walking over to the kitchen getting ready to prepare dinner.

"You hungry?" he said to me getting ready to make pasta.

"Not really...I ate earlier." I'm a liar.. "I'm gonna take an early night on?" I got up from the couch, gave him a kiss and walked into the bedroom. Not long after I got in the bed he did. I turned my back to him, and he did the same. Nothings better than this..
