002 — ❝UNLESS,❞
"HELLO?" Joe said into his phone, his mother's voice on the other side of it.
"Hey, Joey. How are you?" She replied as Joe continued his drive to the stadium.
As Joe entered the parking lot, he paused and took a look at the poster in front of him, advertising season two of a popular show. Of course, Carson was front and center on said poster.
He sighed and tried to keep his composure, "I'm okay, just getting ready for the game. I don't think it'll be tough, I saw their highlight reel."
Robin chuckled, "That's good. I know you'll kick ass, but I just wanted to ask you about your Christmas plans."
Joes eyes narrowed as he stared at the poster in front of him, "I'll definitely be there for Christmas morning, it's just Eve I don't know about."
"Well, what are your big plans for Christmas Eve?"
"I'm not too sure yet. Marr and the boys are thinking about doing a little thing that day to prepare for the ravens, but it's not set in stone. I'll let you know if anything changes."
"Alright, Joey. You know I always have your best interest at heart, and I think it would be really nice to be home for the whole weekend. To decompress, y'know? Besides, the neighborhood is hosting a big Christmas Eve dinner, and I heard Carson is finally coming back home. It's just been too long."
Joe choked at his mother's words. Carson couldn't have been coming home. She hasn't come home since their very dramatic breakup the summer before college.
Now, Joe was almost determined to stay away from Athens for longer because of Carson, with the coincidence of being her next-door neighbor.
He was lost in thoughts while staring at the poster ten feet away from him as his mother rambled about the cutlery they would use to host such a party.
