name ★ ‣ eijun nozomi 'nozomi' meaning hope, wish, desire 'eijun' meaning brightness, clarity and richness
titles ★ ‣ scapino his official fatui title as a harbinger. in commedia dell'arte, scapino has a tendency to flee from conflicts and even those he begins himself although he will usually return it eventually. this fits eijun, who tends to run from his problems and causes conflicts yet finds himself always coming back to them in the end— unable to escape his fate until he decides to learn to accept things as they are. it's also his playable name.
‣ macbeth his official code name given by the jester. it's a reference to the play 'macbeth' by william shakespeare. it's the name of the play that shouldn't be spoken of or it'll bring bad luck— fitting to eijun's tendency to cause trouble whenever his name is said. he sees conflict as a stage, and the people involved as stage members and actors who will eventually fail in their plans. many say it's bad luck, and it only happens when 'macbeth' is brought into the picture. even outside of official fatui work, eijun seems to only cause trouble by accident.
‣ the grim reaper it's more of something people outside the fatui refer to him as. when macbeth can't be said, 'grim reaper' is used in place. eijun doesn't take lives. he rarely does. but this name fits well with his sudden appearances during grim times and his association with a literal god of death.
nicknames for him ★ ‣ jun ・by close friends a common one given by those he's close to, or anyone who simply wants to call him this. eijun likes the nickname and is flattered whenever someone calls him this.
‣ mr. eyepatch ・by the damselette columbina doesn't bother to remember names, so when eijun was first sworn in as a harbinger, she chose this nickname to refer to him. eijun happily responds to it.
‣ one eyed freak ・by wanderer and the marionette even before he erased himself from irminsul, wanderer had always referred to eijun by this. the history behind this insulting nickname is quite simple. when his subordinates spoke of how promising eijun was when he first joined, wanderer would scoff and bestow this nickname onto him out of mockery. as a harbinger, scaramouche would only refer to him by this and found it amusing how eijun would still happily respond to him. with how vulnerable and easy it was to take advantage of him, scaramouche had no hope that eijun would be anywhere close to reaching the rank of a harbinger. so when he heard that he was taking the seat of number six, he laughed so hard that he almost threw up.
