Chapter 4: Distraught Souls

"Are you even listening to me!" Yuji was abruptly brung back into reality,yanking from his thoughts,he abruptly unclenched his fist. Which left a faint sorness in his palm, but he ignored it nonetheless. He gaze would then shift upon the flower known as flowey. It seemed to have a slightly annoyed expression upon its face.

"It seems like the weed has quite the temper even for its small size,which seems to be quite predictable for any organism that is small. Its attitude makes up for its small size... I learned that from a certain.. sorcerers." Yuji chuckled slightly at Ryūjin's sly response. It kinda eased his worries... for now,that is.

"Are you... laughing at me?" Yuji slightly flinched as he felt the flowers gaze burn into him.

"Umm–No,I wasn't. I was just... remembering a really funny joke, that's all." Yuji chuckled half-heartedly with a slight smile upon his face as flowey's eyes narrowed at him for a moment.

"....I guess.. that makes sense..." Yuji sighed in relief,at least he didn't infuriate the flower any further. Ryūjin simply watched from within his vessel's mind,the reptilian curses eyes narrowed upon the flower.

"This weed could be quite the troublesome fellow,I'll keep my eye upon it.." Ryūjin thought to himself,his gaze fixed upon flowey as he tried to decipher its motives.

"I'll be sure to teach you the basics of how to defend yourself,that's what friends are meant to do!,to help each other.. right.. bud?" Flowey smirked,its demeanor seemed so innocent & for Yuji's benefit. But he knew well during his past experiences before this.. that looks can be ruse,hiding a person's true intents.

"Alright,Flowey... show me the ropes of how to..  defend myself?"

"Of course,buddy!"

Yuji then abruptly felt an abrupt shift in the atmosphere. As he felt something emerge from his chest,it didn't feel painful.. it was just odd. He stared down to see a heart of some sort floating in front of his chest. It glowed a bright color of dark red that had a sizable light blue circle within the middle of it. As it pulsed rhythmically in tune with his won heartbeat.

"Is that.... my soul or something?"

"You are quite correct,buddy,now... I'm just gonna send a few pellets at you & all you have to do is dodge them." Yuji hummed in response as flowey smirked,Summoning a few pellets from out of nowhere. Flowey would then abruptly shoot the pellets at Yuji at a moderate speed. Which he dodged with ease,his gaze stayed upon glowey as it kept that same smile upon its face. But its eyes held an entirely different intent,ones that only a keen eye could uncover.

"Sooo.. is that all I'm supposed to do?"

"Yup,but here's a tip from one friend to another; don't trust the monsters down here.. they will kill you for the single purpose of taking your SOUL to their king,ASGORE." Yuji sighed. He wasn't fazed by the worry within flowey's voice,he was already aware of what it was trying to do. But he just decided to play along for now,knowing it'll be better to stay on its good side & not raise any suspicion.

"You have quite the tactical mind.. when you put your effort into it & use your brain instead of using your fist." Yuji pouted in slight annoyance of how blunt Ryūjin's response was,which caught flowey's attention.

"Buddy... are you okay? You've been talking to yourself?"

"Yep,I am totally fine... I think?"

"Whatever you say,I'll be here to help just call me & I'll be their in a flash!" Flowey giggled slightly as it spoke those last words to him before abruptly slinking back into the ground immediately.
