Closing The Gap

"Who told you that" The Hokage's eyes narrowed at his son who returned his gaze in full.

"So it's true" He spoke more to himself and Minato cursed under his breath.

"Naruto-" His son cut him off.

"Is this why you didn't want me to become a ninja?!" His voice started to rise

"Naruto you have to understand-"

"WHAT HAPPENED TO BEING A 'LATE BLOOMER'?!" He yelled at his father who could only look at his desk.

"We had to seal the fox..."

"AND THE ONLY WAY WAS STRIPPING ME OF MY CHAKRA?!" Tears were flowing down both of their faces as Naruto grabbed a fistful of his hair and dropped to his knees.

"Naruto I'm sorry but w-we didn't have much time. It was either that or the reaper death seal and that would've killed one of us" His father was holding back sobs as he explained his reasoning to his son.

"rrrRAAAAGHH!!!" Naruto screamed and punched a hole in the wall before storming out of the building.

"Naruto wait!" His father called and Naruto made a 180° turn.

"When I said I wanted to go to the academy, to become a ninja, you always pushed back and said I'd be better suited elsewhere; meanwhile, you always supported Narumi who had the same ambitions. It all makes so much sense now" Naruto growled at his father and left the building, slamming the door so hard it splintered and the doorknob tore off.

"Shit!" Minato seethed as he slammed his fist on the desk.

Shattering it just as his son had.

"Thank you for letting me spend the night here"
Naruto said to the pinkette as she stroked his hair.

"It's no problem. You made such a good impression on my parents they didn't think twice about letting you stay" Sakura said with a chuckle, continuing to stroke his blonde locks.

"I'm glad some parents actually like me," He said to himself and the pinkette knew it wasn't her place to question.

"Oh!" She snapped her fingers and motioned the boy upwards.

"What's wrong?" He asked as he tilted his head and stared at his best friend.

"M-my mom bought a whole bunch of snacks from her last trip to the land of rice fields" She caught her words, blushing at the look of her best friend. The blonde's eyes lit up and he thought about the various treats that could've come from the land of rice.

"I hear their rice pudding is the best in the world!" Naruto commented excitedly as he eagerly awaited the retrieval of the aforementioned snacks.

"It's kind of a lot" She struggled to carry the heavy box into her room and set it down with a grunt.

"Wowww!" The blonde had sparkles in his eyes as he eagerly rummaged through the box, picking out the items he thought looked good and settling himself on his friend's bed.

"Cinnamon Churro Rice Cakes." She read the label before looking at her friend "What's a churro?"

"No clue! But they smell good" He opened the package and took a bite, humming in approval.

"Let me try one," The pinkette said as she pointed towards the bag. Naruto nodded and held out a rice cake for her to try.

The one that he had just taken a bite out of.

The pinkette blushed and took a bite out of the rice cake offered to her.

"It's good right?" Naruto grinned and she nodded her head.
