The next class was Combat. Wyll had been looking forward to it for the whole day. (And it was not just because Jaheira taught it, she's awesome.) As the class entered the room, it was quickly discovered that there was no teacher. However, a fluffy white cat was sitting on top of a large crate in the center of the room. Karlach nudged Wyll. "Didn't Jaheira look like that whenever she turned into a cat?" she whispered to him. "She did!" Wyll said. "It's her," Karlach said in an excited whisper, flames dancing through her hair. "Calm down, darling," Astarion said. "We wouldn't want to start a fire, would we?" Karlach looked down at herself. Her infernal engine was glowing brightly enough to be seen through her shirt. "Whoops." She said,
The cat meows loudly. It was looking in the direction of two students standing by the wall. Wyll tried to remember their names. The shorter one was Fizz, and the tall one was... Asmodeus? Yes. That was it. Asmodeus was leaning over Fizz. He looked like he was trying to threaten the small boy. Asmodeus had turned to look at the cat, but he turned back, saying something to poor Fizz, who looked like he wanted to get away. The cat jumped down from its crate and walked over to the two boys. Asmodeus didn't notice the cat, even when it was right next to him. He didn't even notice it until it turned back into the teacher. "Is there a problem here?" She asked. Ozzie jumped back, startled. "What the f-'' he began. "No swearing." Jaheira reminded him. "Now, is there a problem here, or can I start the class?" "No, there's no problem here," Ozzie said quickly. "Do we have to participate, though?" He asked in a whiny voice. "If you have a proper excuse," Jaheira said, crossing her arms. "I'm a deadly sin!" Ozzie yelled. "You can't make me do anything!" Jaheira glared up at him. "I don't think you're the teacher here. You will participate, unless you want to fail. And I don't care if you're a deadly sin. You're still a student. Any further problems?" She said, beginning to get thoroughly frustrated with Ozzie. Ozzie scowled and walked away.
Jaheira returned to the center of the classroom. "Today, I will be attempting to teach you how to, at the very least, hold a sword." She said, "Doesn't have high expectations for us, does she?" Gale whispered. Wyll stifled a laugh. Jaheira opened the lid of the crate she had in front of her. It was full of wooden practice swords. "Take one, and don't hit each other," Jaheira said, with a pointed look at Blitzø and Shadowheart, who were giving each other dark looks. Once everyone had a sword, Jaheira demonstrated how to hold it. Not everyone had an easy time of it. Gale looked as though he'd never held a sword before. Which was quite likely the truth, Wyll realized. Fizz was struggling just to hold the sword up, and so was Stolas, the both of them went over and told Jaheira "The pen is more powerful than the sword." She didn't care and told them to get back to work. Jaheira sighed. "Hopeless, the lot of you." She said, shaking her head, as Fizz dropped his sword again. "That's a little unfair." Wyll pointed out, holding his sword perfectly. "True," Jaheira said. "Hopeless, most of you." She said, correcting her previous statement. "Alright, class dismissed." She called, after taking a look at everyone's sword skills.
As the class moved to leave, Jaheira moved over to Ozzie and pulled the sin aside. "I have my eye on you." Ozzie stiffened. Had she heard what he'd said to Fizz? No, she couldn't have. Could she? Argh, how was this puny mortal making him doubt himself? The teacher narrowed her eyes at him. "Don't give me any more reason to suspect you of anything, devil." She said, dismissing him with a wave. Ozzie stormed out of the room. He would have to try and find a way to get that pesky Harper out of the way. He'd done his research on the Harpers, but he hadn't been expecting the High Harper of Baldur's Gate to show up at his school. This was going to be a problem
