I have taken heavy inspiration from the movie "Beautiful Boy", which is one of my favorites. It's an incredible film and showcases addiction in a realistic view, while also building a heart-throbbing bond between a son and father throughout the movie. If you're interested, I'd highly recommend watching it! It left me sobbing, and it had a huge impact on my life and the way I view addiction/drugs.
After taking an advanced writing class and a course focusing on sociology, I wanted to challenge myself and attempt to write about a more serious topic. Something that means a lot to me, and might mean a lot to others as well. That being said, everything in this book is fictional. Nothing on these pages have actually happened, and I am only using Matt Sturniolo and his father because they're figures I look up to and see myself in. Therefore, I am using them to shine light on this major subject. If anything in this somehow gets to them and they are made uncomfortable by it, I'll immediately take it down with no hesitations.
