I throw myself back onto my lovely seat, reclining it as far back as I can. Leo who was quietly walking beside me stands over me.

"Aren't you going to sleep in the tent? There's blankets in there" , he says tilting his head.

"No thanks I'd rather stay here" Since it's the furthest away from the door, I finish the sentence off in my head. "Leo!" I hear a banshee scream. I look to see who it was and it's Ang standing there with her hands on her hips. She flicks her head indicating for him to go over.

"Coming" Leo quickly replies.

After hearing that she goes back to taking things out of a bag. Leo glances at me before speed walking over to his sister. He reminds me of a dog, always running around and chasing people.

I make a move to get up when suddenly Leo is standing in front of me again with a shit eating grin, taking breathes as if he ran, on second thought I wouldn't put it past him. Before he could get a word in annoyed I say "what now?" as I got up from my seat. I cross my arms waiting for a reply. Leo doesn't hold eye contact for long as he turns away coughing. Is this guy sick? why is he always coughing around me? As I think this I take a step back.

Leo takes notice of my face and asks "why are you making that face?".

Because you're gross I almost blurt out.

I drop my facial expression returning to my resting face "what face?"

"Like you're disgusted" he answers.

"No, I never made a face"

He makes a confused face "I definitely saw you make a disgusted face".

"I don't know what you are talking about" I say hoping he'd question if what he saw was correct.

"But-"

"I think you're confused" I cut him off.

He goes quiet with a face of confusion before saying "maybe..."

He doesn't have much time to think about it as I ask him again "what do you want".

Completely forgetting about my face, he brightens up and says "nothing just wondering where you were going".

Without replying, I walk away

Leo no longer speaking quietly follows with soft footsteps behind me. His interruption almost made me forget why I got up in the first place. I remember Layla and the guy walking in this direction and begin to go towards that direction. We walk for about a minute before arriving in front of the janitors closet.

"Why are we-"

"Be quiet" I whisper.

The is ajar due to there being no handle. I crouch looking through as I hear hushed voices. While I strained my ear to hear the idiot places his hands on my back leaning forward putting all his weight on me trying to also listen. I look up at him annoyed and stand up straight without warning causing him to fall back letting out a grunt of pain. I grab his arm dragging him to his feet and pulling him behind the door. "wh-" I place my hand over his mouth and harshly whisper in his ear "shut up".

Leo furrows his eyebrows, and he nods, understanding the urgency in my voice. We both remain hidden behind the janitor's closet, eavesdropping on the conversation taking place on the other side. Layla's voice becomes clearer as we strain to listen. "I told you, Damien, we can't keep doing this. It's too risky," she says, her tone filled with both frustration and concern. So his name is Damien.

My heart pounds as the door to the janitor's closet inches open, revealing not Layla or Damien but a shadowy figure of an unknown person I can't quite identify. The person pauses, glancing around suspiciously before deciding to step out.

Leo and I press ourselves against the wall, barely breathing, hoping our presence goes unnoticed. As the minutes pass, the muffled voices inside the janitor's closet continue getting louder every second. The stranger's attention seems to be drawn elsewhere, and they retreat down the corridor, disappearing from sight.

I release the breath I've been holding, exchanging a tense glance with Leo. We share a silent agreement to remain hidden until the coast is clear.

Damien, the guy she's talking to, responds in a loud voice, "Layla, you worry too much. No one suspects a thing. Besides, this plan is foolproof!"

I exchange a puzzled glance with Leo. What plan are they talking about, and why does Layla seem so uneasy about it?

As we continue to listen, it becomes apparent that they're discussing some kind of operation. Layla's reluctance is concerning, but Damien seems confident in their scheme. I let go of Leo and motion for Leo to stay quiet and keep listening.

"Damien, this is dangerous. If we get caught, there's no telling what could happen. I can't believe I let you talk me into this," Layla whispers urgently.

Before Damien can respond, a third voice joins the conversation. It's deeper and unfamiliar. "You two need to focus. We're running out of time, and this opportunity won't come again. The stakes are high, but the rewards are even higher."

Leo taps my shoulder and I wave for him to stop. It seems like we've stumbled upon something much more significant than I anticipated. I ponder whether we should leave before we get caught or gather more information.

As we continue to eavesdrop, it becomes clear that Layla and Damien are involved in something that goes beyond what they have now become accustomed to. Whatever this mysterious plan is, it's shrouded in secrecy, and I find myself inadvertently wondering what's got Layla so worried.

I look at Leo, silently communicating for him to start walking away. It would be better for me to do this alone, I internally think to myself as I indicate for him to go. If he didn't follow me here I could have done what I wanted but now I have to be aware for the both of us. Which is annoying – ugh.

Just as Leo shook his head defiantly. Layla's voice suddenly rises, frustration evident, "You can't just show up like this. It's too risky."

The mysterious guy replies in a hushed tone, "I had no choice. We can't delay any longer."

Their conversation becomes increasingly cryptic, making it challenging to decipher the nature of their predicament. They lower their voices and I strain my ears again, catching fragments of sentences that hint at hidden dangers and a sense of urgency.

As the conversation unfolds, Leo shoots me a questioning look, silently asking for insight. I respond with a slight shake of my head, signaling him to remain quiet and patient.

Suddenly, the door creaks open once again. This time, it's the unknown person from earlier, returning to check on the noise. Panic sets in as I push Leo further into the shadows, praying we go unnoticed once again. The figure scans the area briefly before deciding to investigate the source of the disturbance. We hold our breath, hoping the cloak of darkness shields us from their investigation.
