"Anyway, I only really care about what you think." Jack said, locking eyes with Nikki to ensure she understood how much she meant to him; only her opinion mattered in all this. He watched her face for any sign of concern, determined to put her mind at rest if he saw even a flicker of worry flash across her face. He hadn't waited ten years for this to be ruined by some young girl's brief infatuation.
"Oh, that's sweet of you." Nikki said sardonically.
Jack was relieved that she was mocking him. This was a good sign; Nikki isn't taking this issue seriously. He'd put enough effort into the last few years to show how much he loved her, how patient and determined he can be to get what he wanted; her. She knew he wasn't going to risk what they had, for a dalliance with a girl young enough to be his daughter, just to boost his ego.
"Hmm, as if any students going to steal your man! You're way too hot." Jack flirted, knowing Nikki would bite at his comment.
"Oh, you're my man? You're like a possession that can be stolen." Nikki mocked, picking up on his use of the word steal, playing right into his hands.
"You know what I mean." Jack murmured, looking at her lips with desire and massaging her arm with his hand.
"Like a watch... Or a..." Nikki started.
"Or... a bicycle" Jack interjected, grabbing her arm and waist, pulling her onto his lap so she straddled him. She smiled, delighted as always at his playful approach.
"A bicycle?!" Nikki said incredulously.
"Bicycle!" Jack affirmed, grinning at Nikki's amusement.
"A bicycle!" Nikki smiled down at him, clearly in the mood for being playful, finding his analogy hilarious, especially since he was always telling her how good she was on top during their love making.
Jack knew he had her. "For all its obvious connotations. A very special bicycle, mind you. Because you're a very special person." Jack continued as Nikki chuckled at his attempt at a funny posh accent.
"Keep it going..." Nikki said, pushing his shoulders against the back of the sofa, smiling down at Jack, knowing where he was taking the conversation.
"You'd be... I don't know... sports personality of the year... if they had that sort of thing... you know, for this sort of thing." Jack added, looking up at her adoringly.
Leaning down to kiss him, Nikki held his neck with her delicate fingers, her thumbs stroking his cheeks gently. The atmosphere quickly shifted from humour to one of love and intimacy. He had wanted this for so long. The opportunity to share his life with someone who knew him, and who he knew, inside and out. Someone that trusted him explicitly, who understood his moral compass and accepted him for exactly who is he and wants to be. He loved that Nikki was self assured, confident, knew exactly what she was to him; everything. He respected and trusted her enough to be open about everything, and enjoyed showing her exactly how attractive she was to him. There was no doubt in her belief of him, and it meant he could completely relax about this situation with Cara's friend, Vanessa.
"That's so special." Jack murmured to her as they pulled away to look at each other. He couldn't find the words to tell her the depth of feeling that he felt for her, everything she meant to him, their shared history, his endless adoration of her for the past several years. Whilst he laughed and joked about almost everything else, he was deadly serious about showing her how much he loved her.
As Nikki looked at him, she considered how worried he might have been in telling her about this situation with Cara's friend. What was apparent though, was his complete honesty and adoration of her. There was no love that she had ever experienced with anyone else that was like what she had with Jack.
