It had been a rather long day, Sero would say, when xe returned to the apartment they and xir boyfriend shared. They could hear the music pouring out from the speakers down the hall and knew that xe would have to turn it down as soon as they got inside. What they found, though, was unexpected . . . to say the least. 

Xe unlocked the door, pushing it open, everything was tidy. Not a speck of dust in place. That's how Sero knew that today was a bad dysphoria day for their boyfriend. He only scrubbed the apartment from top to bottom when they weren't feeling okay and needed something to take his mind off things. Sero stepped further, looking for xir violet-haired boyfriend, finding no sight of them, they checked around the surrounding area. The park xir boyfriend liked to work out in, the cafe he liked to study at, the ramen place they liked to eat at nowhere. Xe pulled out their phone, opened xir snap, and checking their boyfriend's location. Xe was shocked to see the other was still at the apartments, then it hit them, xe knew exactly where to find the violet-haired male. 

They ran up the stairs of the apartment building, bursting out onto the roof, xe saw their boyfriend sitting on the roof's edge, legs slung over the side. 

"Toshi?" Sero calls, if the other hears them, he doesn't acknowledge it. "Shinso?" 

Still no response, Sero felt their heart squeeze, apparently there was no need for all that worry after all.  Xe turns, hand on the doorknob as they hear xir boyfriend shift, seeming to look at them. Xe sighs, opens the door, and yanks it open. They step into the stairwell, tears pricking at xir eyes. Were they not an okay person to talk about what was going on with him?

The violet-haired male sighs his heart and head at war with one another. They hadn't meant to ignore Sero, everything in his head was too loud. They felt tears prick at his eyes, they attempted to blink them back, he couldn't drop their facade, not now, maybe not ever. 

Once he had calmed again, they stood, careful not to lose his balance as they stepped down from the roof's ledge. The concrete beneath his feet, sent a sharp jab of pain up through their shins before quickly receding. He stepped forward, one foot in front of the other, and then they were bounding, sprinting, taking the stairs two at a time, and more. He burst into the apartment, Sero was resting on the couch, and xir face was drawn in confusion. Shinsou let the door fall shut behind them before launching himself at their partner, the tears falling down his face, they probably should've spoken with Sero before getting xir shirt all full of snot and tears, but it was too late to turn back now. 

Sero's arms encircled them, grip tightening ever so slightly, a hand tracing up and down their spine, sweet nothings spoken into his ears as the sobs wracked their body. 

It was a short while later when Shinsou's tears calmed to the occasional sniffle and Shinsou readjusted themselves in his partner's lap so that the other would be able to hear them better. 

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to act like a dick, it's just been a rough day, and growing up I wasn't allowed to show my emotions, and growing up these past couple of years, I just masked all of them to protect people. I'm sorry, Hanta, you don't deserve any of this," Shinsou confessed, tears welling in their eyes again. Sero gently shushed them. 

"You know something, carino? I don't care. We will get through this together. I love you so much, and I knew it was a hard day for you before you even opened your mouth. So, now, I need you to listen to me. You are my beautiful brave boy and no matter what anyone says nothing will change that," Sero reassured, holding the other in xir arms. 

The two fell asleep in one another's embrace, finally happy after a long day.
