"Get in there! This'll be your new job boy!"
Skye was shoved into the big and darkened room.He looked around and sighed, turning to the door but it was slammed and locked behind him.Skye scowled and turned back, folding his arms.He could see a giant red chair, surrounded by numerous flickering monitors and flashing images of the attacked townspeople grieving and shuddering.
"Serves em' right."
He muttered aloud. He trudged over to the chair, too bad he was so short for eleven years old.His small body was like a bear cub compared to the looming chair.Turning to his left,he saw a few buttons built into the console of the arm rest.Obviously curious and childish,Skye pressed a few, watching as the monitors changed to different locations and regions. He stopped as he saw a familiar estate,
"The Frayon's."
He whispered. He'd never seen them before but he knew who they were;a powerful bunch with musical voice and talent.Their voices could destroy lifeforms and universes if they really wanted to.Skye leaned on his hand, humming in boredom. He had heard a rumour of the only female heir coming of age just a few months ago.Pressing a few more buttons without looking,Skye skipped one, catching a glitching glimpse of purple and froze, rewinding the monitor back.He froze, staring at the flickering screen, transfixed. There upon the shitty tech was a young girl with shoulder length purple hair, curly in just the right places with worried purple eyes.Skye's first thought was,
'Adorable.'
He had no idea that laying eyes on Melody Frayon would cause him to fall very deeply in love at that moment. He'd go at midnight, walking down the fortress to go tell a new friend his recent discovery.
..
.
"You got a two?"
"Go fish."
Gabriel gave the card to Skye, not looking up from his own deck.
"How's your hand?"
"That's poker you ass."
Gabriel said hastily.Skye nodded, grinning slightly. He moved his head from his hand and raised his eyebrows,
"I'm surprised I was taken as well.I mean look at me!Do I not look like a Fletcher?"
Gabriel smiled mischievously,narrowing his eyes.
"Oh trust me you do.But I'll bet Melody must've told the folks that found us to help you to."
"SHE'S AWAKE!?"
"Um yeah dude?"
"GO FISH'LL HAVE TO WAIT!I'LL BE BACK!"Skye scrambled away, throwing his cards in a fluttered mound on the bed they had been sitting on.Gabriel leaned on his hand, looking away.
"He'll be just fine."
Skye rushed past the people walking through the halls to any room where Melody would be.Skye wasn't generally surprised that Melody was awake, she was levels stronger than any soldier Fletcher had thrown at her direction. He skidded past one of the open doors and peered through the doorway. And bathed in afternoon sunlight and looking twice as prettier than before was Melody. She turned and smiled,
"Morning!"
"It's the afternoon."Skye said nonchalantly.Melody sighed and stood up,her hospital clothes draping over her feet.
"Well? Not a 'thank you' for saving your miserable ass?"
Skye coughed and quickly regained his composure,
"Well if you'd have waited patiently then I was about to!Thank you."
Skye said unconvincingly.Melody raised her eyebrows,
"Sure sure.Keep telling yourself that."
Melody said, grinning as she turned back to him.She stood up and walked over to him.
"We gotta talk.Even when you swore you wouldn't,you lied.My spell is broken but. . .I'm not gunna hurt you.I heard you Skye. You've now sworn rebellion against your own dad.Can I trust you now?Can I bury the hatchet? After everything. . .I'm not so sure to be honest."Skye stood there, his heart beating slightly. He gulped slightly as her eyes flashed grey and then purple. She sighed and continued,
"You've killed lots of people but. . .so have I."
"Melody don't-"
"But I have.Guilty or not they still suffered,I hate to be that girl Skye but I'm not just a happy face.I have shame to after all,it was my fault that my brothers and father died,I pushed your old man over the edge and got cocky. They'd be alive if I hadn't challenged them."
"Would. . .they?Though?"
Skye asked curiously,Melody sighed and shrugged,
"Maybe,maybe not.I'm invincible!But. . .not to denial.She won't let go."
