Kyle
The day of the UniVerse Vibes performance started approaching sooner than I expected, my team and I were rehearsing like there was no tomorrow. This is our second time performing for events hosted at Greenland, last year we won first place for our extraordinary lyrics, dance and music. I was determined to make us stand in first place again this year.
Iain and Shane have been practising their vocals, Leo, Hendrix and Flynn prepared for the dance while Carter, Henry and I finalised our new song
'!4Ɛ'. Everyone in the practice room crackled with energetic vibes and fusion of excitement."Kyle, are you okay dude?" Henry asked with a worried look on his face. I turned to see myself in the mirror, my cheeks flushed crimson because of the nervousness.
"I'm fine man don't worry. I was just thinking on inviting someone over to watch our performance." I was tripping. My voice sounded so dry as if I was dehydrated for days.
"Of course dude why not? That'll be great. But you better introduce us to this new friend of yours you social butterfly" Henry winked and gave a wicked smile, before going back to join Leo, Hendrix and Flynn for dance practice.
Henry might be a pretty chaotic fellow but his lyrics never failed to impressed me. He really holds magic in his pen. Meeting him first when I was a first year at Greenland was the best thing to happen.
A month after meeting Henry, we met Iain at the studio hall who had recently moved to Therslomau with his roommate Hendrix.
I decided to get them on board after witnessing Iain's incredible vocals and Hendrix's exceptional dance.Later the four of us held a small audition in the Uni premises to find more members to create a whole band, Henry told me I should be the one to select our new mates and lead this group.
And that's how we met Carter, Flynn, Shane and Leo. The eight of us, each bringing a unique set of skills and personalities to the table, shared a common dream: to become a successful band.Calling it a night, I told the guys that I'm gonna get some air after our 8 hour practice session today. I exited the room in hopes of finding Irie to invite her and her friend to see our performance next week.
There was no rule that we had to invite anyone personally, but I felt it would mean a lot to me if I invited Irie personally.
I started noticing Irie has been avoiding me, which caused me to reminisce about the past. There's an undeniable tension, and I can't help but feel a mix of regret and determination. I'm convinced I can win her back; after all, time has passed, and people change.
Luck was in my side tonight, Irie was sitting on a bench next to the fountain, with a book and as usual her iced latte.
Her caffeine addiction never reduced causing a small chuckle to escape. It was cute seeing her concentrated in that book, to whichever world she was escaping.
I silently approached her, not wanting to scare her at my sudden presence. My heart was pounding heavily as I mustered the courage.
"Good evening"
I tried to make my voice remain as calm as possible without giving away the fact I was dying with nervousness. And feeling kind of bad for distracting her from her haven.
"Oh Hi, good evening Kyle."
She greeted back with a huge smile on her face as if she was waiting for me. That gave me a sense of hope.
"May I sit here?"
"Yes of course"
A thousand knots began forming in my stomach, I was trying my hardest to remain neutral. Years later, she still managed to drive me crazy just by looking at her. Moonlight shone over her brown eyes, lips the colour of pink cotton candy, dark brown hair tied in neat ponytail and baby blue sweats.
