"Daddy I'm ready" I smiled at my dad who looked quite stunning in his black suit and bow tie
"Honey, you look absolutely stunning" He says, Kissing my forehead.
I was so nervous and excited about today.
My sisters dolled me up and mom picked out the wedding dress with me weeks earlier. I wrapped my hand around dad's arm and marched with him when the choir started singing.
Everybody rose when they saw us, I shifted my eyes on each row while approaching the alter. My mom's eyes were full of tears, I smiled at her blocking my own .
Aunt Ingrid smiled at me together with Aunt Penelope, Mom's sisters.
Everybody was so emotional and they weren't the ones getting married, I WAS the one getting married.I try to compose myself and shift my eyes on the stand while we were getting closer.
My heart leaped when he flashed his teeth at me with glowing eyes. We finally reach the alter, my dad hands my hand over to him, he plants a kiss on my cheek and we stand facing each other.
"We're all gathered here to witness two souls uniting as one before the lord Jesus Christ" The Pastor starts. He continues saying a few words and suggested a short prayer.
We exchanged vows with smiles reaching our eyes . I was truly lost in the moment.
"Samantha Cornwell, Do you take Daniel Michaelson, to be your lawful wedded husband, In sickness or health, Rich or Poor, Better or Worse, Till death do you part?" Pastor Hamilton askedI took a deep breath and looked at the man that stole my heart "Yes I do".
Cheers were heard from the crowd, Pastor Hamilton raised his hand to signal silence and proceeded
"Daniel Terrance,Do you take Samantha Rivers, to be your lawful wedded wife, in sickness or health, rich or poor, better or worse.Till death do you part?"He stares into my eyes and answers
"Yes I do"The crowd cheers again,And is silenced again by the pastor
"Although" Everybody snaps their head at Daniel
"Although?" Pastor asks unsurelyHis best man steps forward, I've never seen him in my life, maybe he's one of Dan's friends, with a small pillow that fits in his hand, covered by a small piece of clothEveryone gasps when Daniel lifts the cloth to reveal a gun.
The church is filled with murmurs of worry, He picks the gun and points it straight on my head
"I wonder how my bride will look like on a death bed" Daniel asks mischievously and his best man chuckles. What's going on?Before I get the chance to ask myself more questions, I fall back with a loud, the last voices I hear being Cries and Gasps from everyone else when Daniel pulls the trigger.
Everything is blurry, It's all fading, then all of a sudden I inhale as much air I can accumulate, My eyes are probably out of their sockets right now because there's so much light in the room, I blink rapidly, I hear the same machines but as I slowly take in my surroundings, this room is different from the one was taken to. This one isn't filled with scalpels, and all other equipment needed for surgery.
This one is sort of cozier and quiet.
"She's awake! Call the doctor Nigel! She's awake!" I hear my mom's high pitched voice ring my ears.
So much for my quiet moment. Why does she have to shout. God!
***
2 minutes later, 3 doctors barge in the room, they run a couple of tests, ask me questions after an hour, I could move my hand, leg, I could feel again!I was so overjoyed but the excitement didn't last long.
Now that the anesthesia is out of my system, I could feel every inch of my body stinging, mostly my ribs but my face hurts less than before thankfully.
"Miss Cornwell, I'm Doctor Shane" One of the doctors tells me while taking a small flashlight, turning it on and waving it on my eyes.I squint my eyes in response. What is the deal with Lights today.
" Your friends brought you here 6 hours ago, you were badly injured, luckily we attended you fast enough before anything else bad happened" He continues
"You also lost a lot of blood and understand you're in a lot of pain, which explains the two bags attached to you veins" He points to the side of the bed. "One is to add more blood and one is to add water, and some drugs were added to lessen the pain you're feeling"
He's talking calmly, letting me soak in this new piece of information.
"I would go into detail, but for now you need to stay calm and put so we avoid tampering with your Blood pressure, Any questions?"
"No"
I didn't want to ask any more questions. My state is bad enough, I don't want to worsen it. I'm attached to a freaking Blood bag, I'm dehydrated, My blood pressure was too high, what's next, A heart attack ?
"Alright, are you ready to see your parents?" Doctor Shane asked
"Yes" Silently praying Mom doesn't barge in and shout like before.
"Samantha Sweetheart!" My Mom cries out the minute she walks in and throws her arms at meI flinch at the sound of the door banging and my mom's outburst.
This just isn't my day.
***
Dad walked behind mom when she came in, My dad always has a poker face on him, it's really hard to read his mind but today, his face showed everything so clear. He looked so worried, I felt sad to be the reason he's that way.
The three of us talked, I asked how I got here and they told me Mrs.Cherry our neighbor heard Noises and tried calling me but failed then later dialed Yolande cause Quinn wasn't picking up. Speaking of those two..
They came running in the room, Our gaze followed them, they walked by my side and exclaimed how they're grateful I was okay. So we got back to how I didn't die in my bedroom.
Just as Yolande and Quinn started explaining they were interrupted with a loud thud, we snapped our heads in the direction the thud came from,
It was the door, It kept swinging back and forth but our focus wasn't glued to the door. It was glued at the person standing by it.
A face we all hadn't seen for the last three years. His tie was hanging down to the second unbuttoned of his blue shirt, His hair was ruffled, His face was weary, And even though he's supposed to look like a mess, somehow his handsome face always did him the favor of looking incredibly attractive all the time. He frowned when he looked at me.
"Can Samantha and I have a moment alone?"
