Jay Marshalls, That's his name. Heard of Stephen Marshalls? Yes, One of the largest Law firms in New York put his name on the door after being selected most efficient, respect and accurate Partner in the firm.
Plus, he solved a case that even Davies Pearson couldn't solve. I remember all this because it was hard to forget when he was constantly talking about it.
I can't help but Gloat about my friend's successful future. But that was where the problem was. He was just a 'friend'.
We met In Harvard's Orientation week, The University was so huge, we had a whole week to cover the whole area. So when I was just a freshman ready to start my day tour, It just "so happened" we got name swapped, They put me in the Law list and Him on the Economic and finance list.
Funny how the universe brings two new people together, we both thought it was hysterical but got over it and became friends since then.
"Go ahead, Say it" I say when everyone leaves the room still dumbstruck. Even my dad didn't say a word. Jay has done so much for our family that no one questions his requests.
"Yes Samantha I fucking told you so" Sounding equally frustrated.
"I bet you're so glad that came out"
"You think I'm glad that I'm right about something this bad?" I can't help but notice a hint of disappointment in his tone. I don't really know why I'm letting out my anger on him, He just came to check on me like any other good friend outside that door.
He sighs and sits on the chair beside the bed when I cross my arms and scowl like the baby I am. "How much do you know?"
"Yolande told me he attacked you, that's pretty much it" He massages his temples. I'm the one on attached to the beeping machines, I don't get it.
"Oh" Is all I can manage to say. I guess my family and friends are keeping a few details confidential until everything is handled.
"What? Is there something I'm missing?" He asked quizzically. When I don't respond, he gets up from the chair.
"Samantha" My head snaps to look at him only to realize he's few inches away from my face, boring his caramel eyes into mine. "You know you can tell me anything right?"
Involuntarily, the scenery starts clouding my mind, more of a fast forward flashback, from the moment Daniel got and accidently saw the divorce papers that I carelessly left in the living room.
"Samantha, Stop! Please" He squeezes my shoulders and I stare blankly at him, slowly realizing I was blurting out that happened.
"Noo Jay, He raped me, He raped me, He raped me!" I repeat the same statement as if trying to convince myself, It's not true, It can't be real, maybe when I close my eyes I'll miraculously wake up and call it a nightmare.
But when I do close my eyes, I see his face. His wild, hungry, deceitful eyes that almost killed me. Tears are forcefully rolling down my cheeks and my sobs are growing a bit loud. That heavy lump in my throat is back, I can't stop crying because I find myself stuck remembering. It's like I'm caged in our bedroom forced to watch everything for a 100th time, letting the trauma torture me.
My sobs ease up when Jay pulls me into a hug, my head rests on his chest. And even though parts of my body still hurt, somehow that didn't seem to matter, what seemed to matter was his comfort overweighed my pain.
"I swear Samantha, I'll make him pay" He mutters when I finally come into my right sense and shut up.
There's so much assurance and anger in his tone and I choose to believe him. I, more than anyone want Daniel dead.
I start thinking of the worst case scenarios. Prison is too easy, Holding him hostage in an abandoned island, may be tempting but it'll give him the satisfaction that we're going through all the trouble to make him pay. No. Death is suitable for a monster like him. I hate thinking this way but what can I do?
"Jay" I sniff "He could be anywhere by now"
"Don't worry about that, I had my people take him in the minute I heard the news, He's being held by the police as we're speaking"
'my people?'
I always knew,he was a powerful person but not that powerful, I didn't really bother asking, I was just grateful he went through all that trouble for me.
"Thank you"
"You can tell me that when I finally throw him in jail with a lifetime sentence" His tone is now light and calm.
"It's going to be one long week"
"He better gear up, because you just became my client"I let out a small laugh, He pulls away from the hug and holds my shoulders lightly
"What?" A small smile creep his Oh-so-perfect lips. I can see he's amused by my abrupt change of emotions
"Crazy how I never thought you'd use that statement on me" My mind swims back years ago in college when I used to help him study for his Law exams.
"He crossed the line, he's going to regret it, I promise you that"
Just as I was about to respond, the door opened, slowly this time, thankfully it was the doctor, I didn't need more doors-flying-across the room moments. He told us that I needed to rest, and Jay nodded, kissed my forehead and said
"I'll be right outside when you wake up"
I smile and nod at the small but meaningful gesture and force myself to sleep when the room was clear.

A/N; Okay my lovely readers, In the next two chapters I'll speak in third person, Making each character have their own POV's is exhausting and takes time since I have to speak for each one of them, so why not look it at a different angle? then we'll get back to Samantha's POV
