Chapter 6: Bye Mom

(Amitys POV)

the closer we flew to Luz's house, the more scared I got. My mother is a terrible person with strong magic. even with Eda and Rain, I don't think we could defend ourselves if she decided to attack, and knowing my mom, she was probably going to attack. even if she is drunk, she would be too powerful.

"you scared?" Luz said from above me, her arms tightening around my waist.

"why would I not be," I began to cry, "I-I mean, what if she hurts you and your family?"

"Hey," Luz lands and looks me in the eyes, "I promise that won't happen." She whips one of my tears away from my face and puts a hand on my cheek.

"b-but she's powerful," I cry, "even in a drunken rage, she could rob a high-security bank."

"Amity, look at me"

I look at Luz and see a look of peer determination.

"last night, after you fell asleep, I promised myself that I would help you with your mom. I am adding another promise to that." she looks me dead in the eyes, "I promise that I will protect you from anything, no matter the circumstances. I will protect you till my last breath, I will make sure not a single thing comes in harm's way."

I can see, in her eyes, that she was serious. that she would kill to keep this promise. she removed her hand from my face and reached into her pocket, pulling out a necklace. a necklace that had a pendulum that looked exactly like the one that I gave her. She had that one on, so I know that she was not trying to give my gift to her back to me.

"How?" I ask

"I actually bought it when Willow was doing your hair," She grinds mischievously, "I was intending to give it to you when we got back to my house, but this seems like a better time."

She puts the neckless around my neck.

"Now we match," She says, smiling.

"That we do," I giggle.

"Are you ready to tell your mom off?"

"I think I am."

(Time Skip)

Just like Eda instructed, we fly in from the back of Luz's house. Rain was standing at the back door, waiting for us. Their arms are crossed and their face was filled with worry.

"oh thank the Titan you're okay," they say when we land, "I thought she saw you."

"we're okay Ren," Luz says, hugging them. "we just needed to land for a second so Amity could hipe herself up."

Rain walks at me, "I don't know what your mom does to you, but I don't trust that woman. if you don't want to go with her, Eda is distracting her right now. You and Luz can fly as far as her wings can carry her. we will send word when we deal with your mother."

I give them a reassuring smile, "Rain, thanks for the offer, but I'd like to face my mother myself." I look at Luz, "I would love it if you could back me up though."

Luz gives me a classic Luz grin, "I got your back Hermosa, just let me grab Big Mama"

We walk into the house and Luz goes to her room to grab "Big Mama," whatever that is. Rain, being a bard, grabbed their violin and started to tune it. I sat on the couch and waited for the two to get ready. I started to think about how much has happened since I met Luz. before she came along, I had no friends. I had no one to laugh with, no one to comfort me when I was sad,  and no one to pull me out of the pit of despair I sometimes find myself in.

But now I have Luz. Luz is the person who makes me laugh. she gives me her shoulder to cry on. She is the person that is pulling me out of the pit that I am in. I don't want anything to happen to her, because I love her.
