*Husker*
I watched Angel for a moment as he finally fell asleep and closed his door as quietly as possible and I sighed with relief. I had been worried sick about Angel for most of tonight and was left with the tiring task of watching over Fat Nuggets. While Nuggets was a gift from Val, Angel didn't like him being at the studio anyway.
I turned from Angel's door when I saw Charlie walking down the hall with Alastor, quietly talking amongst themselves. They seemed worried and to be discussing Angel.
"I just don't know what to do, Alastor. He's been missing for hours!" She whispered frantically to him and I just rolled my eyes as I tried to walk past them both. Alastor stopped me.
"Husker! My dear fellow, has Angel arrived home?" He just gave me that lame-ass smile and I nodded.
"Yes, Angel made it home. He's just tired and wasn't feeling too well." I didn't want to air out his business since Alastor can sometimes be a harsher judge than Charlie. "He said work was incredibly rough tonight..." I tried to elaborate the best I could.
"Was Angel hurt?!" Charlie always cared more about Angel's well-being, which I was thankful for.
"He could barely walk when he came home, but he was more worried about what you thought of him, Charlie." I directed my attention more to her.
"Me? What happened that he'd worry about such a silly thing?" She sighed and tried to rack her mind for what could have caused Angel so much anxiety. Charlie never expressed anger unless she had to. Our shortcomings as sinners never seemed to deter her care for us.
"Angel had a hit at work to get through the shift, but he felt awful." I sighed a bit since I didn't understand why Angel cared so much about what anyone thought of him. Not only was he incredibly skilled with guns, but he's also an incredible fried, what more does he feel he needs to prove?
Charlie's cheery demeanor fell for a moment. She paused and looked at me with the saddest eyes. "He was that worried?..."
I nodded in response. "Yeah... he was real worried. Work gets intense for him and it's just the easiest vice..." I sighed a bit.
Alastor chimed in. "Well, that won't do! Maybe we should send someone to watch over Angel, and make sure he is ok at work. If someone is reporting to the Princess of Hell and her father? He is much less likely to harm Angel." Alastor had a shit-eating grin on his face, but his plan was solid. If someone were around, an overlord wouldn't hurt the souls beneath them, especially overlords who care so much about image.
"But who would even do that? The Studio isn't exactly everyone's favorite place in Hell, Alastor." Charlie sighed as she thought out loud.
"I heard they have a bar, sure they know I work for Alastor, but I have one hell of a resume when it comes to bartending. I can call some pals to put a good word in for me." I didn't want Angel to go through any more bullshit, so if me just being there could provide some comfort then I'd take the few hours out of my day. It's not like I sleep unless he's home anyway.
"Wonderful idea, Husker! Now we do need some backup...." As Alastor spoke to himself and quietly talked with Charlie, our resident gunslinger, Horus stumbled into the hall. He had been at the bar earlier, bitchin' and moanin' in my ear like everyone else in this place.
"Ah, Horus! My good friend, could you be an absolute dear and go with Husker to the Studio every night to watch over Angel?" Alastor smiled at him eerily.
Horus sighed and rolled his eyes. "Gotta be fuckin' kidding me, boss. You're making me babysit?" He side-eyed Alastor, which only made Alastor laugh at him.
"Oh come now, you could always meet a nice ladyfriend. I don't care as long as you report back home when Angel does." Alastor shrugged as Horus groggily rolled his eyes.
"Yes sir. Am I allowed to drink at least?" He looked over at him.
"Whatever your usual limit is, that is all. We want Angel in safe hands, please, and thank you!" Charlie chimed in. "I'm more than willing to compensate you both for overtime!" Charlie chimed in hoping Horus wouldn't fuss too much.
"Sure, sounds fine by me." Horus just nodded and stumbled into his room.
"Wonderful, sounds like a plan!" Alastor smiled as Charlie ran off for the night she cheered with him. He eventually turned to me. "Husker, while the main reason you are there is for Angel, please keep an eye out for anything useful, understood?" He smiled."What's in it for me?" I said it sarcastically, giving a sideways smirk. Alastor only laughed at my joke and gently nudged my shoulder.
"Oh Husker, how I love how you jest!" He laughed with his usual laugh track and walked off as I rolled my eyes. Hell, I was old-fashioned, sure, but that mother fucker was a straight-up odd-ass man.
I sighed a bit as I saw the two walk off together, I went to check on Angel. I looked into his room and caught him smoking. Seemed to be the only thing keeping his nerves low. I walked in. Angel hadn't seen me and took the cigarette and pressed it into his thigh.
"I'm still a fuckin' person. The shit that happens to my body doesn't matter. I am not a fuckin' object- ow ow ow shit-" Angel threw it into an ashtray and cried as I came in, bandaging the area as quickly as possible. Angel just cried. He knew I was there and just accepted the help."Thankfully, it won't scar, Angel." I said it to him with a slight smile.
"Who cares!? I just want this hell to be over! I can't do this shit for eternity!" He slammed his head back into the wall. "I don't want to fuckin' live like this anymore. I can't keep just takin' it." I quickly moved to pick him up and move him away from the wall.
"Ok, ok, I hear ya, Angie. I hear you, hun." I gently carried him out to a balcony and flew off as he cried in my arms. Angel's cries eventually halted as he looked down at the city lights, something he always said he liked. He looked around and calmed down as he rested his head on my shoulder.
"Thanks, Husky..." He sighed in relief as he took a breather from everything."I got you, Angel." I smiled at him as we flew through the air for a while.
