Unbelievable.
Unbelievable, she thought.
Winter thought Karina was unbelievably cruel for leaving her just like that, after making her highly aroused and finally opened her heart for the latter.
It was harsh enough that Winter was left hanging in the middle of making out session, but it was even more painful to think that they would go back to being strangers again. No, she wanted to know more of Karina. She wanted to spend more time with her.
"Are you going to leave me just like that, Karina?" she asked, her voice was slightly cracked.
Karina sighed as she ruffled her own hair in almost same level of frustration as Winter. "I'm sorry, Winter. i've got to prepare going to work."
Winter hung her head low, and reminded herself that she was just a company for a night-a condition to a deal.
She was embarassed and hating herself for making Karina's words came true; "..they always ended up begging for more touch from me."
She wanted to hit herself to death for growing lust and admiration for Karina.
"Are you okay, Winter?"
"I-I am okay."
"Don't worry about your uncle-the deal will be settled today. I always keep my promise." Karina reassured her as she patted her shoulder. "You've got to keep your promise, too, okay? Never tell anybody what we've done this night. Moreover, the fact that 'Mr. Yu' is a woman. From all the conversations we've had, I know I can trust you, Winter," she said, her tone was demanding, asking for confirmation.
Winter nodded meekly as she looked up, seeing Karina preparing for a shower. ".. Can I ask you a question?"
Karina stopped her way and looked at Winter, who was still lifelessly sitting on the couch. "Yes, please."
"Are you really going to play strangers with me after we walk out of this room? Does this-everything we've had, mean completely nothing to you?" Winter stood, her eyes were already watery. "How many girls have you hurt like this?"
Karina, on the other hand, was caught off guard. She was seldom to lose her cool, but that time, she couldn't hide her dismay. She surely did not expect Winter to be that emotional, recalling how the younger girl had despised her so much at first.
"Wh-what?"
"Are you gonna request for another girl this night, the one that is willing to do anything as you please?" Winter hissed at the shocked Karina before realizing how desperated she might have sounded. She looked at Karina and saw how she was walking closer to her.
With every step Karina took towards her, she backed away a step.
"I-I am sorry, Karina, I didn't mean to" just then she realized that her back was already hitting the wall; there was no more space for her to go back.
Karina trapped the latter between her arms as she stared right into Winter's afraid eyes, who kept attempting to avoid Karina's.
"Look at me, Winter," she demanded, but Winter kept hanging her head low-she was mixed between afraid and crazily ashamed of her clingy, sulky attitude.
"Hey," Karina, aware of the latter's worry, softened her tone and gently used her finger to lift Winter's face so their eyes could meet. "Winter, listen to me, yes?"
Winter bit her lip nervously but nodded her head nonetheless, unable to resist Karina's tender stare.
"You are a really amazing woman, Winter. I've got to admit that it was your beauty that caught my interest first, but after I got to know you, i know you're different; one of a kind. I felt it." Karina sincerely said. "Not only are you breathtakingly beautiful, you're also smart and kind. Even with that carelessness you have, I still like being with you, Winter, really. I enjoyed every second of it."
Winter was inside feeling all giddy by the honest compliments Karina had just given, but judging from the hanging tone Karina used, she knew that the older girl still had something to say.
".. But?"
Karina sighed, resting her forehead on Winter's shoulder. "But I've got no intention to go further than this, Winter, I am sorry."
Winter felt her heart drop and her throat choke again. "..Why?"
Karina pulled back and ruffled her own hair again, feeling nothing but sorry. "You know, I'm just staying here, in Seoul, for some business, including with your uncle. I'll be leaving in a few days."
"Then why can't I just stay by your side until the day you leave?"
Karina rested on the wall behind her, folding her arms while staring the ceiling. Another sigh left her lips. "The thing is, Winter, I am afraid."
That time was Winter's turn to be surprised. "What are you afraid of, Karina? Your secret? You know that your secret means my life since you'll cancel the deal if I-"
"No." Karina cut her and held Winter's hands. "The longer we stay together, I am afraid that you might fall for me, and vice versa; the possibility that I might fall for you. I feel attracted to you and I am pretty much sure the same goes to you."
"Then what makes it so hard, Karina?" Winter was slowly becoming more and more frustration at the latter. She was also sure that Karina felt as much chemistry as she felt.
"The fact that, whatever happens, I am going to leave you in the end, Winter, I.. I don't want to be in a relationship, for now. I am sorry. I don't want to hurt you, really."
"Listen to me, Karina," Winter said as she cupped Karina's face. "I promise you, I won't ask for more, I won't stop you from leaving, and I won't ask you to be my girlfriend -although I would love to. All I am asking is for you, this moment, to stay with me a bit longer, to let me know you a little deeper." Winter ended her words with a short chaste kiss, which completely silenced Karina.
There was a moment of silence as Winter nervously bit her lips again, waiting for Karina's response.
She was even puzzled with herself, never in her life had she begged for someone to stay like that.
She was used to instantly let go after every break up, but that time, she was really hoping for Karina to stay.
However the billionaire's next words shattered her heart into pieces.
"I.. I don't know." Karina finally said as she slightly shook her head.
"I see.." Winter hung her head low again, but soon moved back to the couch, taking her belongings. "I'll get going now, then, I'm sorry for holding you back."
Much to her surprise, Karina suddenly stopped her by back hugging her.
"I'll drive you home."
Winter's face fell upon hearing that, wishing that Karina would ask her to stay instead.
"No need, I can go home by myself," she declined as she tried to hide her disappointment.
But the next question successfully made her smile like an idiot:
"Can I pick you up after work, then?"
