When you woke up, you were dazed.

There were tubes in your shoulders and arms, and you had no idea what they were meant for, but for some reason you felt content with them there. For some reason you felt like they weren't placed there with ill intentions.

Despite all the machines surrounding you, the thing that caught your attention the most was a boy in the room with curly blonde hair and big green curious eyes staring at you.

"What's wrong with you?" he asked in Korean, but you didn't understand so you just stared at him. "People who come here always have something wrong with them," he said.

"Maybe you're just deaf," he mumbled to himself.

Right then a nurse walked in, and he quickly ran to hide under your bed. The nurse's eyes wandered around the room before stilling underneath the bed.

The nurse just stood at the doorway with his arms crossed and a stern look on his face.

"Liam." He said, the nurse's frown deepening as he talked, "what have I said about you running off?"

Liam slowly emerged from under the bed, head down in shame, and replied, "that you don't get paid enough for this shit."

"Not that-" The nurse sighed and shook his head, feeling defeated and exhausted, and you had a feeling that this boy was one of the main causes, "you know what, nevermind. Your leaving Busan today, you have to be ready for when your dad comes."

The nurse then turned to you and smiled, his attitude making a 180, "Glad to see you're awake kiddo, I'll go and grab the doctor and your family now." You hated that you still couldn't understand him.

When the nurse left, he dragged Liam along with him, leaving you all alone again.

The room was white, with giant bright coloured circles scattered around to give an illusion of playfulness, but it all felt very artificial.

However, the room truly became bright when a jumping and bubbly Taehyung ran into your room, "Y/N!" he screamed, diving headfirst onto your bed and crashing into you.

It absolutely astonished you that this boy has become so comfortable with you after only knowing you for a few hours.

He hugged you when he landed, and you couldn't stop giggling at him and his silliness.

However, you stopped giggling when you saw the doctor and Taehyung's grandmother come in.

You clutched onto Taehyung as he hugged you, and he noticed how tense you became. Instinctively, he turned around to be met with the same sight that was scaring you so much.

He got off of you, rather making himself comfortable right next to you while holding your hand protectively.

He wasn't the biggest fan of that doctor, considering the last time he saw you was unconscious on that same hospital bed.

Taehyung glared at the doctor in a way that you assumed he thought was intimidating but rather came off as pretty cute.

"Y/n, this is Dr. Moon," Taehyung's grandmother told you in your native tongue, "I promise you, he is not going to hurt you, he just wants to help you."

If it had been anyone else who told you that, you wouldn't have believed them, but for whatever reason you believed her.

The doctor came closer to you, slowly, so as to not alarm you, and you were extremely grateful for that because you could closely watch their every movement easily.

"He just needs to check your vitals, will that be ok with you?" Taehyung's grandmother asked gently.

You nod your head, hesitantly. You didn't flinch at his touch, you had learnt the hard way that flinching only led to you being hurt.

You stayed unnaturally still. When the cold metal of the stethoscope touched you, you became rigid and tense, but you hadn't moved.

"There has definitely been a significant improvement in her health since arriving here, however, I would like to keep her here for a few more days to monitor," Dr Moon had told Taehyung's grandmother, which she then explained to you.

"And what happens to her after that?" Taehyung's grandmother asked. She was fearful for what could happen to you, it had only been a day and yet your curious eyes and fidgeting fingers had grown onto her as much as you had grown onto Taehyung.

"Well...," he started, "I am no expert, but I do believe she would go into either foster care or stay at an adoption centre. However, now that I'm thinking about it, I remember Officer Choi asking her boss if it would be possible for you to care for her."

Taehyung's grandmother glanced at you and Taehyung, who had fallen asleep beside each other, with saddened eyes.

"I'm afraid we wouldn't be able to care for her even if it were possible, Doctor, but do you think it would be possible to send her to a foster carer or the adoption centre in Daegu?" she hoped that it would be a bit easier for you if you got to keep Taehyung and herself in your life, she imagines you hadn't had much stability in your life previously. "You see, I had only taken my grandson to Busan for a holiday, but, considering how close they've gotten already, I don't want to separate them."

"I'll see what I can do."

Hello beautiful people, how has your day been?

Did you know this fanfic has 11 reads. I know it doesn't sound like many, but when you think about it, that's 11 whole real people reading my writing. It's actually insane to me that anyone would bother with it.

Fun fact: I've been writing this story since I was 12, just one liners in my notes app, but still this story means so much to me. It's crazy that it's actually becoming something.

Also, please, please, write comments, I'd love to get to know my readers and it would mean the WORLD to me if you did.

Thank you!

Love,

Artemis <3
