<><><>CHAPTER 50! <><><>

Keely Yates studied her phone with intensity. "Come on!" she demanded in a hushed tone. The screen of her IPhone 5 was still black. With a groan she threw her phone onto her bed and massaged her temples. Her phone was already keeping her down and it had not even been two years since she had gotten it. The apps kept crashing and the Wi-Fi was slow even when she was feet away from the router. She wished that she could do something to fix it, but there wasn't anything. Sighing she stood up from her bed and went into the bathroom that connected with her bedroom. She figured she might as well splash some water on her face, to get herself out of the foul mood she was in.It was summer time and her mom and dad were out of the house leaving it quiet. Keeli had nothing to do today, she had actually been planning on typing out the chapter of fanfiction that she kept procrastinating about. In the mirror she looked at her reflection above her sink. Still average. Average brown hair, average brown eyes, and average olive colored skin. Her cheek bones were nothing to brag about, not anything as beautiful as Benedict Cumberbatch. Her skin was neither beautifully pale nor gorgeously tanned. No, instead she had freckles. She hated her freckles. Keeli wasn't one of the people who had tons of freckles, but she instead, had only a few. This, in Keely's mind, was worse. She was average height, average hair style, and average body type. Keeli Yates was nothing special, and she knew it. Every time she looked in the mirror she was reminded of this fact. Another sigh filled her. She turned away from the mirror. Keeli couldn't remember why she had come into the bathroom anyway. Instead of thinking about it, she returned to her bed and picked up her phone. It turned on with the push of a button and after typing out her password she flipped through pages of apps. She pressed the orange "W," that was the second app on the top row of her third page right next to her Instagram app. The app opened and she didn't bother checking the "discovery," area. She went straight to the "notifications," tab. none. She up scrolled and it reloaded only to show her that no one had voted/commented on anything that she had put out into the world. It was not a surprise since she had not, in fact, updated any of her multitude of unfinished works. She pursed her lips. Keeli decided that she probably needed to go ahead and write the next chapter to her book, above and Below: A Fangirl Story. She was very proud of the three readers that she had on her book. Two of them were her best friends, but they still read it. Shutting off her phone, she tossed it onto her bed and grabbed her laptop from where it sat on the desk next to her bed. Settling back into the pillows on her bed she opened Word and began typing. It must have been an hour since she had begun writing. The chapter was coming along but needed a few more pages. That was when her phone buzzed. Keeli had purposely turned off all of the notifications on her phone except text's and Wattpad for a reason. And since she knew that her best friends Kyle and Lily were still at work another ten minutes it couldn't have been them. With a frown on her face she checked her phone. There was one lone notification. "Wattpad 1m ago Queen_of_fandonia updated Falling Through Portals Slide to view" A smile spread across Keeli's face. Not even bothering to remove her laptop from her lap, Keeli slid her finger across her screen. She typed her combination into her phone and she was in the Wattpad app. It took her only a moment to find Falling Through Portals at the top of her library. It had become her favorite Percy Jackson fanfiction on the whole of Wattpad. Keeli tried to remember what had happened in the last chapter just before she dove into the new one. Her finger moved and- Chapter ## Keeli's phone shut down. "What?" she said out loud. She was so close to a new chapter! She groaned and pressed down the button on the top of her phone and the home button at the same time. The apple appeared signaling the restarting of her phone. Keeli knew it was going to take a minute to reload. Suddenly she heard a thud. It was so loud that it made her whole body jump. Following the thud was the sound of falling papers. Keeli knew that no one was home. How did someone get into her house? With shaking hands she set her laptop onto her bed and looked back at her phone. She needed to call the police. The phone was still restarting. She cursed silently. Fear filled her. She couldn't just sit there. With as much silence as she could manage, she slipped off of her bed and looked about her room for a weapon. Her eyes passed over the walls of her bedroom which were covered in Doctor Who posters and Fanart that Lily had drawn for her about almost every book they had both read. She saw the pillows that she had tossed onto the ground and her school stuff that she still needed to go through since school had ended. She spotted her Anatomy text book that she had forgotten to turn in on the floor. Keeli grabbed it. She stealthily snuck out of her room, armed with her text book. In her mind she told herself over and over again that the fear that she was feeling was a super power. That's what the Doctor said, anyways. Keeli looked around the corner of the hallway into the family room. She saw the back of the sofa, the TV, the bookshelves around it, and the windows. There was nothing out of place and the house was quiet again. She frowned. Still holding her text book high in the air, ready to destroy everything in its path, she walked out from the hallway into the room itself. Her eyes looked around to see anyone who may be there. As she rounded the couch she saw . . . Keeli gasped and dropped her textbook. Pain surged up from her foot and she bit back a cry as she looked down to see her text book in the midst of flattening her toes. She had dropped her book onto her foot. Keeli bent down to gently remove the heavy text book from her foot. "You have betrayed me," she whispered to the text book after it was safely thrown to the other side of the room. The book made little noise as it fell onto the carpet behind the sofa. Keeli looked back to the scene that had made her drop the text book. The coffee table was broken. The loose papers that were on the table were scattered about the room. But it was not what that had made her gasp, but who. There was a man, passed out half face first on the broken table and half on the carpet. Keeli walked over to him. He wore dark pants that were covered in dirt and a torn grey shirt. He didn't look like a robber. On an impulse that she didn't understand, she knelt down next to him. He looked like he had fallen, but when she looked up, she saw nothing. "Hey," Keeli said to the man in a soft voice, "Are you okay?" she tapped the guy on the shoulder and there was no response. She pressed her lips together and looked around. She was alone, no one was going to help her or tell her what she needed to do. Keeli reached around the guy and tried to turn him around so that she could see his face. "Come . . . on . . ." she grunted as she tried to move him. He was very heavy. When she finally had him facing her, her whole body began shaking. "No," she whispered to herself, "way . . ." she shook her head, "this is not possible . . ." Her brain kept telling her that it was. She looked at the handsome faced man and let her eyes go over the messy black hair on his head. That could have been anyone. But . . . Keeli looked at the man's neck. He wore a cord with five clay beads on it. Her jaw dropped. Percy Jackson had fallen into her house.********************** "Lily! You have to get here NOW!" Keeli demanded as she paced between the couch and the book shelf as she held her phone to her ear. "Calm down Keeli, what are you talking about?" Lily asked through the phone. "I am saying that you need to get over to my house NOW!" Keeli said impatiently. She could hear over the phone that Kyle was starting up their shared car. "What is wrong?" Lily asked. Keeli looked over at Percy Jackson's prostrate body and shook her head. "That would be simpler to show you," she said simply. "Keeli, we are not coming unless you tell us what is going on," Lily said plainly. Keeli groaned. "Okay, so do you remember me telling you about that really good fanfiction-" "If this is about some emotional break down because of some book-" "No! Just listen!" Keeli said, "Do you remember what I was telling you about it?" "Um, wasn't it that one Percy Jackson one where he like went to other fandoms or something?" Lily said. "Yes! That one!" Keeli said, "Well he like falls into different dimensions." "Okay," Lily said, "And?" "He is passed out in my living room," Keeli spit out. There was silence on the other line. "Keeli, are you on something?" Lily asked. "No!" Keeli said. "Keeli, if you are on drugs then we need to get you to the hospital or something-" "LILY I AM NOT ON DRUGS," she yelled into her phone. "Is Keeli on drugs?" Keeli heard Kyle ask in the background. "NO I AM NOT," Keeli shouted. Keeli heard some muffled discussion amongst the two of them. Then Lily came back on. "Okay, Keeli, we are going to be there in just a bit," she said warily, "don't do anything till we get there, okay? Everything is going to be okay." Keeli sighed. "As long as you are coming," she said into the phone before hanging up. She could not believe that they thought that she was on drugs. Of all things? It was just her fictional crush come to life and passed out on her coffee table. That thought stopped her in her tracks. Her fictional crush was alive and passed out on her coffee table. Her fictional crush was alive and passed out on her coffee table. Her fictional crush was alive and passed out on her coffee table.HER FICTIONAL CRUSH WAS ALIVE AND PASSED OUT ON HER COFFE TABLE. Keeli was about to feint.******************** After fangirling for about five minutes straight, she worked on laying Percy on the couch so that he would wake up on something soft. Not ten seconds after she had Percy situated on the couch did the doorbell ring. The front door opened into the living room where Percy was passed out. Keeli raced to the door and opened it. Her eyes went wide when she saw her best friends flanked by two police officers. Before she could even respond the four people walked into her living room. Lily then saw Percy on the couch and went white. Lily looked from Percy to herself and then back to Percy. Keeli's vision tunneled to the police officers who were standing in her living room. "Miss Keeli?" one of the officers asked. Keeli's eyes focused in on the officer. Lily and Kyle seemed to be trying to fade into the shadows of the living room. "Yes?" Keeli answered softly, she was trembling, even though she had done nothing wrong. "Your friends have reported that you might be on illegal drugs," the officer stated. Keeli looked from the cops to her friends. She must have sounded out of it on the phone for them to go this far. This sounded like some absurd beginning to a fanfiction. Then again, Percy Jackson was taking a snooze on her couch. "Do you deny using any sort of illegal drug in any form?" "I do," Keeli said. She was still holding onto the door knob of the front door, her knuckles were white. "Well I am going to have to ask you to breathe into this breathalyzer," the police man held out a small electronic box with a little tube on the end, "You can breathe out into this tube onto the side." Keeli took the breathalyzer with shaking hands and closed the front door. She looked at her friends and then the police officers before she exhaled into it. The machine beeped and the officer held out his hand to receive it one again. "She is clean," said the officer after an incredibly long silence. The man looked to her two friends that looked like they were trying to become the wallpaper. "You two, thank you for doing the right thing for your friend, it takes a good person to do that." Keeli felt relief even though she hadn't taken any drug. "Uhhhhhhh," sounded from the couch. Keeli's heart rate sky rocketed. Percy was waking up. The officers looked startled to see Percy sit up from the couch. Percy opened his eyes. He was looking right at her, her heart skipped a beat. "What's going on?" he asked, his words were slightly slurred. "Who is this?" asked the officer. "That is . . ." Keeli tried to think, she had to figure this out. "Her boyfriend!" Lily said. Percy shook his head and looked at everyone and then back at herself. Keeli could feel a blush fill her cheeks. "Yeah, he is my boyfriend," Keeli said, Percy blinked at her and looked around the room one more time. He seemed to realize that there were two police officers there and he jumped off the couch and walked around to them. "So sorry Officers," Percy said with a huge smile and reached out his hand to the officers, "I am a very deep sleeper," he laughed as he shook their hands. The officers laughed along with him. "So this is your girlfriend?" the officer asked. Percy looked over at her and smiled at them. "Of course she is!" he said. Without a blink of an eye he had his arm around her shoulders and was leaning casually against the wall, "she was a hard one to catch, but she finally fell for me the other night at Chili's." he smiled down at her. He was almost a foot taller than her. He was all green eyes, they made her heart melt. "Well congratulations," the officer said. "Thank you," Percy said, "Also, if you don't mind my asking, why are you guys here again?" Keeli couldn't think of the conversation, she was only aware of the warm arm around her. She had not even had a boyfriend before, and now Percy Jackson was playing along as her boyfriend. "Well your girlfriend's friends reported that she might be on illegal drugs," the police man said. "Why was that?" Percy turned to Lily and Kyle. "She sounded delusional on the phone," Lily squeaked out. Percy began laughing. His laugh was like music to Keeli's ears. "OH!" he laughed heartily, when he calmed down he said, "see officers, there is this new app where you can send premade calls to someone, and I was joking around last night on her phone and sent a hysteric call to her friend." "Ah, that explains it then," the officer said, "Thank you for the explanation Mr. . . ." "Jackson," Percy said. The officer smiled and then looked at Keeli. "So sorry for the confusion Miss," the officer said. "That's alright," she said softly. "Well we better get going then," the officer said. Then the pair of police men left her house. Percy let go of her and faced the three of them. "So . . . who are you guys?" he asked as he leaned against the couch, "and why does my head feel like it just went through a food processor?" "But he is really . . ." Lily said. "Yea," Keeli said. "You're Percy Jackson?" Kyle asked stunned. "Yes, how do you know?" Percy asked. Lily let out a squeal. "It is really you!" Kyle exclaimed. "Right, we already went through that," Percy said, "how do you know me?" "Guy's stop it!" Keeli said to her friends then turned to Percy, "You just fell into our dimension." "I know . . . but how do you?" Percy asked. Keeli bit her lip. "Well . . . you are the main character in a book series that is famous in this dimension," Keeli said. Percy's face went blank. "So . . . you have read my entire life?" he asked. "No, not all of it," Keeli said, "It is complicated." He shut his eyes and rubbed them with his hand. "Tell me," he said. *******************
