After a debate she decided to wear a saree. Having worn a saree for school, college and several other functions, she was well aware about how to wear it. She wore a pinkish orange coloured saree with golden border and applied minimial make up. Two rings on her hands. One given by Kush years ago and one gifted by her family. She wore nothing except her mangalsutra in the neck. Vermilion adored her and a bindi on her forehead. She kept her hair open. Her band-aid was partially hidden by the golden kadas she wore. She came out to see their daughter sleeping and the bed empty. She sat on the couch, scrolling through her phone. After about half an hour, the door opened revealing Kush covered in sweat. He went to get ready for the day. As soon as he closed the door, they both let out a breath they didn't know they were holding. "Will you stop looking so good always?" They muttered. She felt that Yamika stirred in her sleep and saw the young girl open her eyes and look at her.
"Mumma?" She spoke and tried sitting up. "My baby is up?" Yuvati scooped Yamika in her arms and kissed her cheeks. "Where is Papa?" She asked rubbing her eyes. "Papa is bathing."
She said and sat on the couch. "Mumma, when will we go home?" Yuvati shrugged. "Baccha this is our home now."
"But Vanita aunty?" Yamika spoke with a small pout. "She is at her house. When we get time, we will go see her, hm?" Yamika nodded, flashing her white teeth. Soon Kush came out clad in a coffee colour t-shirt and off white trousers.
"Yami woke up?" He said taking her in her arms. "Papa, I will take a bath and then we will play?" Yamika kissed his cheeks. "Ye bhi koi puchhne ki baat hai?"
(Is this even something to ask?)
Yamika giggled. She pulled Yuvati with her to the bathroom. Yuvati stood there while she brushed her teeth and took a bath. They came out to see Kush talking to someone on the phone. After sometime the three of them descended downstairs. Yuvati and Kush went down and saw Raghav, Nipun, Niyati's husband and Arjun, Kush's bua, Akriti's husband, talking. Yamika went to Ayushman, Niyati's grandson and Tara, a relative's kid and started playing with them.
