Cheryl POV

Midwich Elementary School...the place where it all started.

Where my whole life began going downhill.

I have always been a weird kid, no amount of therapy sessions and other treatments could've helped me.

It wasn't my fault though...not completely at least.

My school has always been filled with weirdos, they don't belong in a school, they belong in an asylum.

But then again, I'm pretty sure that my school was an asylum.

I'm twenty years old now, it's a little over ten years since I left that school, but something keeps calling me to go back there and I don't know who or why.

Not being able to resist the calling, I got in my car and drove over to the good old Midwich Elementary School.

It was Saturday, so the whole building was empty with no one to be seen around or inside of it.

After leaving my car in the empty parking lot, I made my way over to the school building.

I pushed the entry door and to my surprise it just opened without any problems...what's also weird is that all the lights were on.

Cheryl: Don't they lock the building and turn off the lights before leaving anymore?

I asked myself in confusion as I walked down the corridor, looking at all the old pictures on the walls.

Pictures of kids smiling as if there was nothing wrong with this godforsaken school.

A noise as if something hit something made me jump and take a few steps back.

"What the fuck was that?"

I gasped, putting my hand on the left side of my chest, feeling my heart beating in fear.

Cheryl: I-is someone there?

I called out with a shaky voice as dark fantasies began to fill my mind.

Pictures of disgusting monsters flashed through my head, creeping me out and forcing me to retreat.

Cheryl: Fuck this.

I whispered angrily as I ran back to the entry door and pulled on it.

But the door kept shut, not moving at all.

Cheryl: What?

I asked in surprise as I pulled on it again, still making no effect.

Pushing the door didn't help either, obviously.

Cheryl: Oh come on, this can't fucking be!

I cursed under my breath, walking back to the corridor in a hurry.

Cheryl: The fire exit...that's the way out.

I said to myself as I made a run for it.

But as I was running down the hall, everything began to shift into a morbid direction.

All the lights went out with the light bulbs shattering, making me gasp and speed up.

The distant noise became louder, meaning that I was approaching it, but I had to since I needed to get to the fire exit.

Red liquid began dripping from the ceiling, one drop landed on my face and once I wiped it away, I realized that it was blood.

The walls started bleeding as well, painting everything around me in a dark red color.

This can't be real, this is all a dream.

"Heather, help me!"

A familiar voice called out, making me stop in my tracks and look over to the classroom where the voice called out from.
