Today wasn't going to be an easy day. You even shedded a couple of tears as you thought about what was going to happen today. To be honest, it was all you could ever think about.
"Hey, Eric, wanna go for a ride?" You pet the fox's head.
The fox purrs and smiles as you grab his favorite toy, a worn out tennis ball. You walk to your vehicle as the eager fox follows you. The fox jumps into the back seat as you close the door behind him. You, getting into the driver seat and pulling out of the driveway. After about 10 minutes of driving you stop on the side of the road. The fox sensed that something wasn't right but went along with you were doing.
"Alright, Eric, let's go play fetch,"
You let the fox out of the car and stepped into a field, the woods not too far away.
"Alright, Eric. We had fun, and I will never forget it. If you don't remember anything, remember me, remember the fun we had, and remember that I remember that I will always love you, Eric," You say quietly, your voice shaking as tears threaten to fall from your eyes.
Sensing your feelings, the fox had grown even more concerned.
You grab the toy out of your pocket and with one good throw, it goes into the woods. The fox's confusion is soon replaced with excitement as he chases after the ball.
"I'm sorry, Eric..."
Tears fall from your eyes as you get into the car and drive off. Your heart breaks completely as you see the fox chasing after you but soon getting tired. You felt horrible, sick, disgusted. You felt as if you lost your closest friend, which you did. You couldn't just keep him forever, he was growing bigger and bigger. Who knows? He could've tried to attack you one day. You were going to miss everything the two of you had been through, and he was too. The fox felt isolated and confused, even sad.
Even abandoned.
"Bye bye, little fox."
