I love this, the sound of quiet. It's just me and my book in my red sofa. It smells old, not the disgusting old. It smells like our lake house, full of
memories. It have been used over many generations. It's not like in the city where all you hear is the sound of cars and the smell of gasoline. I don't think I realize how noisy it is in New York until I come out here. How do I even survive? My lil brother, Mason, is running around like crazy but it's still so quiet.

We always go out here in the summer. I don't do anything except read and sunbathe and of course play soccer. Still the summer ends so quickly. My mom thinks I'm lazy and that I should make some friends. Of course I would love to get to know someone out here but there is no one in my age. But I think this is perfect, it's exactly how I want it. It's me and my little bubble.

The lake house is kind of big, renovated in some rooms, like the kitchen. It lays in South Carolina. It was my mothers grandparents. It's white with three floors. It has a big lawn with a lot of flowers. My parents love flowers.

Suddenly, my mom interrupted my thoughts "Come here Emma! You have to see this." I closed my book and walked down the stairs. My mother is standing by the kitchen window and looking at our neighbors house, which have been empty for years. It's a big and beautiful house.

"Mom, you're kind of creepy when you look at the other house like that."

"Look Emma! We're getting new neighbors, isn't that great? Plus I saw a guy in your age, maybe you can get to know him." My age, hm, coincidence. My mom have a huge smile on her face right now. Her brown hair laying perfectly on her back, she looks so happy.

"I don't know mom." I look out the window and see a guy with brown hair, black jeans and a white t-shirt. And even though I want to, I can't deny that he is very good-looking. Why would someone like that want to get to know me? He is holding his little sisters hand while talking to her and his parents are lifting moving boxes off a big truck.

"I think it's a great idea, maybe I should invite them to dinner sometime."

"We don't even know them mother."

"That's exactly why we should invite them to dinner, Emma. Anyways, I think that we should at least go out and say hi." And with that said my mom takes my hand an lead me outside. Ginger is rushing out behind us. Ginger is our dog. She's a two year old golden retriever.

"Hi, I'm Brooklyn and this is my daughter Emma. We just thought we would come out and say hi. We live in the house next to yours." We shake hands and the new family seems very nice.

"Hi! I'm Adalyn, this is my husband James and my two children Ethan and Madison. It's very nice seeing you! And it's very nice to see that we have come to a very nice neighborhood, this place is beautiful." Adalyn has blonde hair, she's very tall and small, Ethan is also very tall. His little sister also has blonde hair and it's a little bit curly, like her father. Except that James has brown hair.

"Yes it is very beautiful, maybe we could eat dinner together sometime, you're more than welcome home to our place."

"That would be wonderful, I guess we could fit that in."

"What about tomorrow night?"

"That's perfect, I guess I'll see you tomorrow then."

We wave to them while walking back to the house and my mom's smile is even bigger now.

"They seem so nice Emma!"

"Yes they do, indeed." I smile at my mom. We are now back in our white kitchen and my mom is sitting by the island.

"I'm gonna start the dinner now, can you take Ginger out for a walk?"

"Yeah, of course." I yell for Ginger who rushes happily with her tale in the air. I put her leash on and go with her outside.

I take the long way, Ginger is walking by the grass on the side of the road. We walk past big houses when a motorbike is slowing down and driving next to me. I look to the side and see Ethan. He stops his bike and jumps off it. I stop too.

"Hi! You're Ethan right? I'm Emma" I smile at him and he returns it. I've always been very social, not so shy. Which have kind of been a problem sometimes cause' some people think it's kind of annoying when someone talks a lot.

"Yeah hi! I just wanted to say hi cause' I didn't really get a chance to say hi when our mother's where talking a lot."

"I know!" I answered him giggling. "Have you been here before? Or is this place new to you?"

"No, I haven't been here before. I was just out here exploring, kind of getting to know the place, you know. I have some friends out here but not so many, I was hoping to get to know someone."

"Well now you do. Maybe I can show you around sometime." I say smiling.

"That would be awesome, but I guess I'll see you tomorrow."

"Yeah." He jumps on his black matte motorcycle. Puts his black helmet on and starts driving again.

I smile at myself, well, he seems very nice.
