After the trio returns from their first mission together, Ethan approaches Aric and asks him to help control his powers better. Aric agrees and takes him to a field near the camp. Aric instructs Ethan to pick up a boulder and throw it at him. Although Ethan struggles at first, Aric advises him to relax and concentrate. With focus, Ethan manages to pick up the boulder and throws it towards Aric. Aric, using his magic, blows up the boulder. Shocked by this display, Ethan is then instructed by Aric to do it again, but this time in his Giant form.Ethan transforms into a giant for the first time, albeit not as large as other giants—he only reaches Aric's height. Picking up a boulder is easier this time, and when he throws it towards Aric, the boulder moves faster than before. Aric almost fails to destroy it due to its increased speed but eventually manages to do so. Aric then encourages Ethan to integrate his sorcerer magic with the surroundings. By the end of the day, Ethan learns how to control some of his powers, though he realizes he still has a long way to go.As they return to camp, they witness Lyra engaged in combat with some monsters near the village, accompanied by a person they have never met. Ethan asks Aric if he knows her, but Aric denies having met her before. After Lyra and the mysterious girl finish fighting the monsters, Ethan and Aric approach them. Lyra questions their presence, and Aric explains that they were conducting training. Lyra wonders why she wasn't invited, and Ethan explains that he personally asked Aric. Lyra nods in understanding.Lyra proceeds to introduce the mysterious girl as Maya Renfield, her childhood friend who decided to join the camp upon hearing that Lyra was here. After introductions, Aric and Ethan present themselves, and they all return to camp to have dinner and go to sleep. Before that, Mr. Gerald approaches Lyra and Aric with another mission. This mission is expected to be more challenging than the last, testing Ethan's strength.
