As I entered Aaliyah's house, a mix of excitement and nervousness enveloped me. It was my first time meeting her family, and their warm welcome immediately put me at ease. Abdi introduced me to Aaliyah's mother, who greeted me with kindness and gratitude for being there for Abdi. Her words touched my heart, and I sincerely thanked her, feeling a sense of belonging in that moment. But it was Aaliyah who truly captured my attention. As she approached me with a shy smile, I couldn't help but be captivated by her modest beauty. Her eyes, brimming with intelligence and kindness, sparkled with curiosity and warmth. I returned her greeting, quickly lowering my gaze out of respect, feeling a jolt of electricity pass between us as our eyes briefly met.
Abdi guided us into the house, and I maintained a respectful distance from Aaliyah, mindful of our boundaries. There was something about her presence that drew me in, a sense of familiarity and comfort. It felt as though I had known her for much longer than a few minutes.
As we settled into the living room, the aroma of freshly cooked food filled the air. Soon, it was time to gather around the table and indulge in the delicious spread of Somali cuisine lovingly prepared by Abdi's mom.
Throughout the meal, I found myself captivated by Aaliyah's every word and gesture. Her passion for life and her warm, caring nature shone through, and I couldn't help but be charmed by her. I stole glances whenever I could, always careful to lower my gaze respectfully, hoping to catch a glimpse of her radiant smile.
As lunch came to an end, I felt a mix of disappointment and anticipation. I didn't want the day to end, and I certainly didn't want to say goodbye to Aaliyah. The afternoon had been filled with laughter and a growing connection, and I longed for more time with her.
As we cleared the table and gathered in the living room, I mustered the courage to ask Abdi if we could go out for dinner and explore Mogadishu. Then, turning to Aaliyah, I asked if she would like to join us, along with her siblings. The words spilled out of my mouth before I had a chance to overthink them. To my delight, she looked into my eyes, surprise giving way to a smile, and nodded eagerly.
Stepping out into the crisp afternoon air, a sense of excitement and nervousness mingled within me. The sun bathed everything in a warm glow, creating a romantic backdrop for our exploration of the city. As we strolled side by side, our conversation flowed effortlessly. I shared stories with Abdi's younger siblings, and Aaliyah being the translator cause they are babies to speak English that much. we talked about our aspirations and dreams.
With each passing step, my connection with Aaliyah deepened. It was as if the world around us faded away, leaving only the two of us in our own little universe. I hung onto her every word, cherishing the moments we shared, always mindful of maintaining our modesty and ensuring our interactions remained respectful.
As the sun began its descent, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, I couldn't deny the growing feelings within me. Aaliyah had captured my heart in a way I couldn't explain. Her presence had awakened something in me, a sense of joy and possibility that I hadn't felt in a long time.
Unable to contain my emotions any longer, I turned to Aaliyah, my heart pounding in my chest. I looked into her eyes, my voice filled with warmth and affection. "Aaliyah," I said softly, "how's your work at the mall going?"
"It's going well, and what about you?" she replied.
"I'm a pilot, like your brother," I responded.
"Really? That's impressive," she said with a smile. "May I get to know more about you?"i asked.
"As long as you promise not to find me too annoying," she playfully replied. In that moment, as the sun dipped below the horizon, we sealed our unspoken promises with a tender embrace, always mindful of maintaining our modesty. The world around us seemed to fade into the background as we held each other, knowing that this was just the beginning of our love story. We were filled with hope and the knowledge that we had found something truly extraordinary in each other.
As we walked into the hotel where we were going to have dinner, we took our seats at the table. While sitting there, a girl approached Aaliyah and expressed her admiration for the dresses Aaliyah had designed. They took pictures together, and I couldn't help but feel proud and surprised by the strength of character and creativity that Aaliyah possessed.
The future was uncertain, but I could already envision my life with her. After we finished dinner, we continued our walk through the city. Mogadishu was a remarkable city with its lovely people. Aswe wandered, Abdi shared with me the history of Mogadishu, and we immersed ourselves in the beauty of the moon rising, casting a gentle glow upon us.
Eventually, we returned home. Everyone bid each other goodnight and went to their respective rooms. As I entered my room, I was overwhelmed by the memory of Aaliyah's beauty. I wished that Abdi wasn't getting married so that I could gather the courage to ask for her hand, but I knew that it wasn't the right time. I went to the bathroom to take a shower, hoping to wash away the regrets that weighed on my mind. As I emerged from the shower, I performed my evening prayers and then settled onto my bed, trying to sleep. However, thoughts of Aaliyah continued to occupy my mind. I read my nightly supplications, my heart filled with her, and eventually drifted off to sleep,
