Have you ever practiced a sport after a year of inactivity and become extremely sore? Yeah, that's me right now

"But you were never there."

Chapter Nineteen- Reminder

Riley's POV

"I'm just really thankful that we were able to get Riley back. Cheers!" Ryder stated, thrusting his cup in the air, followed by several other pack members, causing a smile to form on my lips.

Danny's grip on my hand tightened, his emotions flooding off of him in waves. He was extremely glad that I was back but still stressed because of today's events. I squeezed his hand as well, giving him a reassuring smile. He seemed to be in a daze as if he wasn't sure if this was really happening.

"To Riley!" Andy yelled, his cup connecting with Ryder's.

"And to Danny, for all of his hard work," Noah added as he smiled at my mate. Smiling, I lifted my cup as well but I still felt numb, confused. I was so used to Adam's presence that it felt weird to be back home with all of my loved ones. I couldn't shake the feeling that I had to leave soon. Everything just seemed to happen so fast. I was just glad that I had my Danny back.

I placed a light kiss on Danny's forehead but even the slightest touch, stirred something within me as if my wolf was finally waking up and realizing that we had our mate back. Gasping, Danny stepped back, our hands detaching and I then realized that he wasn't used to my touch anymore. It was as if we were starting all over again.

"I'm sorry," he whispered, his eyes cast downward to avoid my gaze. I then realized that Danny and I needed some alone time, to talk things out and get reacquainted with one another.

"I think we're gonna call it a night," I stated. Everyone nodded, understanding that we had a long day and that I was not in the mood to celebrate any longer. "Thank you for everything, guys. I really appreciate it." Grabbing Danny's hand, I pushed through the many pack members and went upstairs to my old room.

The moment I walked in, I inhaled the smells that filled the room. It smelled just like I remembered, a whole bunch of sweat, laundry detergent, dirty socks, and a small hint of apples.

"It smells just like you," Danny said as he closed the door behind us before removing his shoes and placing them neatly against the wall. I couldn't tell if that was a compliment or not.

I came up here to talk but the minute I was enclosed in the same room as Danny, my wolf took over and was focused on re branding our mate. I rushed forward, pinning my mate against the wall and burying my face in his shoulder, inhaling his sweet, sweet scent.

Danny gasped as I placed a small kiss on his collar bone before moving upwards and placing another on his jawline, then his cheek, and stopped at his lips. He whimpered slightly, his lips begging to be touched by mine.

Obeying his silent commands, my head dipped downwards, capturing his lips in a sweet embrace. Our wolves seemed to howl together as my heart skipped beats beautifully and my breath caught in my lungs. "I had dreamed so much of this moment but nothing could compare to how beautiful this is," I whispered against his lips but he only pulled away, his eyebrows furrowing together in confusion. "What's wrong?"

He pushed off the wall, his hand covering his mouth in betrayal. "I missed you so much," he whispered, his eyes wide, reminding me of a deer.

"I missed you too."

"You don't understand. I went through so much pain, so much agony," he paused as he searched my face for something. "I was miserable! All because of you!"
