Life starts after college
It's a phrase I've heard from places around
Your high school years are the best years of your life
Your college years are where your life begins
All these monikers, they make you wonder, what is life, where is it? Can you feel it?
I don't feel alive, but maybe because wherever I go
I can't find it
I can't find it
Before high school, I wasn't even aware I existed
All those memories, they were someone else's
During high school, quiet
In the marching band, at a football stadium
Crowded
So loud
I can't hear anything
After that, three years of silence
We learned through screens we would have learned better through
If we didn't have to wake up at the crack of dawn and pretend to listen to an older man or woman teach something that we forgot how to care about
They said they accepted others, but there wese no examples
Those that were, peers, safety nets... I didn't feel like I belonged
Now in college... I hear others full of life
Joy
Peace
Trust
I still have yet to feel my own life start
