Today, it finally happened. We actually talked to each other at school. I sat down at our table, giving him an awkward smile.
"Hi!" he said, and I felt like I was about to melt.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked him, trying to sound as casual as possible.
"Nothing much, what about you?"
"Same here.." I said, looking for something to talk about. I took my notebook out of my backpack, and a drawing of the puppet from Five Nights at Freddy's stuck out of it.
"Is that Marionette? From FNaF?" he asked me in excitement.
"Yeah, you know FNaF? Which game is your favorite?"
"It's a tough choice, but if I had to choose, I'd say Security Breach! I love the way Scott made something completely different than his other games! What about you? Which one is your favorite?"
"I'd say FNaF 2, I think it's great!"
After that, we chatted a bit more, not only about the game but also about a few more shared interests. We're really similar, I noticed, a perfect match, if you ask me.
"Excuse me, I'll be right back," he said while standing up from his seat. I couldn't help but stare at his gorgeous face. I watched him walk towards another guy, and my heart dropped. They looked like they were close friends, if not even more. Dylan, the guy Robert was talking to, looked like a prick. He had a buzz cut, blue eyes, and had no style whatsoever. "Why would Robert talk to a guy like that?"I thought to myself, "He also looks like a junkie, so yeah, really weird for those two to be friends. Are they dating? Does Robert even like guys? I haven't even thought about that... What if he's into girls? Or even worse, what if he's taken? I'll have to ask him later." The bell to the first period rang, and Robert came back to our desk. He smiled at me, and my stomach did that thing. "Hey, Robert, this is reaaaally random, but.. do you have a girlfriend?" I asked him nervously. "Uhm.. not a GIRLfriend, no, why?"
"Oh, I don't know, I was just curious.."
The way he said girlfriend was pretty weird. What did he mean by that? I don't care, at least now I know that he's not taken! It felt like a year passed until it was finally time for lunch break. I was about to leave as someone called out my name. "Yo Aaron, whatcha doin' in lunch break?" I turned around to see Dylan leaning on the wall and playing with a lighter in his hands, Robert stood next to him and smiled at me. "U-Uhm, nothing, why?"
"Wanna hang out with Rob and I? We're goin' to the store down the block. You can come too if ya like"
"Yeah, s-sure, why not?"
"Great!" Robert said.I totally misjudged Dylan. He's pretty nice but a bit weird. At least he makes Robert laugh. Like, a lot.
After lunch break, we had P.E., and all the guys from our class are in the same P.E. group as the guys from our parallel class. They're all nice, but I didn't really remember what any of them looked like since I was so focused on Robert. He's not really sporty and doesn't really participate, but I still love looking at him in his P.E. clothes. The way he can hardly breathe after just a few pull-ups.
The only thing that was making me uncomfortable was that Robert was always with Dylan. It was almost as if he forgot that I existed.Nothing much happened after P.E. All he did was say bye to me and then he left with Dylan again.
The whole way home I couldn't help but overthink. Are they a thing?
