Everyone who has dragonvale should know the basic dragons:

-Fire
-Plant
-Earth
-Cold
-Electric
-Water
-Air
-Metal
-Light
-Dark

These are the dragons that usually have a dragon cash amount instead of a gem amount. Usually, they are easier to purchase because dragon cash is easier to get than gems (without any money purchases). The costs of these dragons are:

-Fire $75
-Plant $100
-Earth $500
-Cold $30,000
-Electric $75,000
-Water $500,000
-Air $750,000
-Metal $1 million
-Light $2 million
-Dark $3 million

Each of these basic dragons have their own hatching time too. As you get higher experience levels, you unlock more basic dragons, unlocking more hybrids. The times for the basic dragons are:

-Fire: 5 minutes
-Plant: 5 seconds
-Earth: 2 hours
-Cold: 12 hours
-Electric: 30 minutes
-Water: 4 hours
-Air: 2 hours
-Metal: 8 hours
-Light: 10 hours
-Dark: 13 hours

Each of these basic dragons also have opposites from one another, which you cannot breed with in the breeding cave, Epic breeding Island, or the cooperative breeding cave. These are opposite of one another:

-Fire and Cold
-Plant and Metal
-Earth and Air
-Electric and Water
-Light and Dark

Trying to get the dragon hybrid of two opposites can be difficult, but it is possible. Just use a primary dragon and a hybrid of the opposite breed and you have a possibility of getting that rare hybrid. Some of these opposite hybrids include:

-Blue fire Dragon
-Frostfire Dragon
-Plasma Dragon
-Current Dragon
-Sandstorm Dragon
-Dodo Dragon
-Malachite Dragon
-Ironwood Dragon
-Shadow Dragon
-Mirage Dragon

These dragons usually take more than 1 try to get. The easiest way to get them is by using the following dragons (in order from the list above):

-Fire+ Lichen, Evergreen, Gift, or Reindeer Dragons
-Cold+ Flower, Poison, or Pepper Dragons
-Electric+ Seaweed or Swamp Dragons
-Water+ Cactus or Ash Dragons
-Air+ Mud or River Dragons
-Earth+ Fog or Rain Dragons
-Metal+ Willow or Pollen Dragons
-Plant+ Chrome or Meteor Dragons
-Light+ Cave or Root Dragons
-Dark+ Glass or Sand Dragons

If there is anymore information you think I should add, please let me know in the comments! And thanks to Wikipedia for helping me find the best breeding for opposite hybrids.
