Golem decided to go through the ocean. It would be faster than taking the way down through the gulf and around, and swimming didn't seem too hard. It would be nice to cool off a bit. At any rate, he was certain the dream meant something, and that the person in it wanted him to hurry up. Who could it have been, however?
Golem reasoned that it had to be someone he knows. Why else would they talk to him, of all people? He concluded the person must be a Golem. Why else would what he does matter to them? He concluded that whoever it was... was probably also dead. Why...
How else could they communicate to him in a dream?
Golem stayed mostly afloat, as long as he had a log to cling to. He swam with it, sticking to it as his safe zone. He kicked his feet for hours on end, drifting and gliding through the water, hours going by with no sense of direction or distance traveled. Golem had no choice but to take his boredom as an excuse to hurry himself along the water still. The sun glared off the water so much it half-blinded Golem at times. Still, he liked to look underneath the water-- look at the nothingness down below. He kind of pondered what all was swimming below him, in the dark cerulean depths down under.
He liked to think about all the beautiful alien things that could be flourishing down below-- Jelly fish, Angler Fish, Sea Pigs, but there were things he never really liked to think about lurking below him-- like whales. He knew how big whales were, and he found them to be creepy and frightening. He kind of feared seeing them.
As his stroke number grew, he feared what was below him more. He kept thinking to himself, "I'm a big golem, I can handle this" while still feeling the water below him shift and swirl. He could feel something bump his leg-- which only provoked him to swim faster and harder. His strokes were getting messy now, and the water kept overlapping his eyes. He took a short look behind him--A large figure had begun following him. He couldn't perform at any higher rates than he was already-- and immediately saw a tattoo on the tail of the beast that was chasing him-- and the Killer Whale "Mornith" grabbed his foot cup with his mouth and dragged him down under the water. Golem watched the light fade above him, and felt the weight of the water engulfing him, holding him steadily down.
Mornith the Killer Whale flung him downward, waiting for him to swim back up. Watching... Even an attempt to get past him was futile... Golem watched as his vision grew darker and darker-- light breaking itself into the purple hue, and the silhouette of Mornith was grim and dooming-- until his vision was quickly interrupted by a shark dashing past and squeezing Mornith in its' teeth.
Golem could only hesitate... Golem could only watch... His vision was clouded by the deep waters, but he could faintly see Mornith struggling to get out. Golem could only sink and sink... Sinking... Sinking... it seemed endless... it seemed impossible to stop...
Tick... Tock...
Tick... Tock...
Swim, Golem, swim! But it was pointless.
I'm going to die down here. Oh no, oh no, oh no! This can't be happening! I can't die! Please oh please! Oh lord no!Golem had tried to resist crying-- but he could almost feel it in his eyes. They were welling up. He tried not to but he could feel it in his eyes-- He was terrified. He was sinking to impossible depths of the ocean with no way back up. Down deep into a herd of sharks.
He'd fallen... and fallen... And he'd landed.
He looked up and had seen the darkest possible blue hue imaginable. It was seemed like everything was closed in on him-- but he knew that oceans stretched on for thousands of miles-- which meant more sharks, which was dooming and scary. Even with his eye lights turned on, it was hard to see much around him-- though he could see the shadows of the sharks circling around him-- waiting for him to close his eyes so there would be no struggle. Golem stood there, crowded over, shrouded in fear. Petrified that this was what dangers REALLY lurked beneath.
Whales? What was so terrifying about them? I'd only just watched one get torn to shreds by a herd of hungry... vile... gigantic... sharks...
He looked up-- and could see the sharks carry the killer whale over a large, massive object. Perhaps a strange gathering of sediment in the water-- he could only see so far through the clouds of dust and lack of light. Golem took a step forward and felt the zip of a shark rush straight out in front of him, the shark kept him in a confined circle.
Golem only hugged himself and bent over in fear. He was lying in the water, scared to death-- Wishing for death-- Wanting it all to be over with immediately. He'd lied there curled up into a ball, crying. Golem could hear them whizzing around him... Golem could hear them... circling and circling around him... Golem heard their wretched cackling-- Echoing in his head!
It tormented him. He could feel his mechanical bones shuttering and clanking... But he only closed his eyes tighter and put his hands over his head-- Waiting for the worst. He could feel the presence of it-- A shark finally coming to finish the job. Golem couldn't take it. I couldn't take it.
