We get to Vanya's house and I begin stitching Five's cut back up using suture and a needle I made. He sits on a chair with his arm on top of a coffee table while I'm kneeling. I ignore the pain coming from my arm every time I make swift movements. A bullet did scrape me after all. It's only a scratch though and I've already bandaged it up.

"Vanya's coming," I say, pulling the thread away from his arm. I'm surprised I already memorized Vanya's footsteps. Five turns the light off. It's sort of funny how he wants her to come in before he turns the lights back on. She comes in and Five turns the light on scaring her half to death.

"You should have locks on your windows." Five states. I pull the final thread before creating some scissors and cutting it. Five rolls his sleeve back up.
"I live on the second floor." She retaliates setting down her keys. I stand up and sit down in the chair next to him.

"Rapists can climb." We both say at the same time.
"Jinx!" I say directing my hands towards him and pointing.
"Not doing that." He responds dryly.
    "You're no fun." I share.

"You are so weird," she mutters before turning around and closing her door. She sits down on the couch and puts her hands on her lap almost anxiously. She looks at both of us. Her eyes stopped at Five's sleeve and my jacket.

    "Is that blood?" She asks.
"It's nothing." He answers. I feel kinda bad for Vanya. She just got her brother back but he's nothing like how he was before.

    "Why are you here?"
Five sighs before responding to her question. "I've decided you're the only one we can trust." I lean back in the seat slightly.

    "Why me?"
"Because you're ordinary." When he says this I glare at him. His eyes match my gaze and his posture changes slightly.
    "Because you'll listen."

Everything comes back to me all at once. I fell to the ground because of this new body. Years of my life stuck in an endless void with nothing but a single cigarette, two empty notebooks, my iPod touch, and a lighter. I expected things to be different but this is a whole new different. My apartment building is destroyed and so is every other building around it. I'm standing in a pile of rubble wearing a new outfit that doesn't match my surroundings. I walk on pieces of the building that are more stable and find one of those free newspaper bins. "April 1, 2019". Okay, the world ending on April Fool's is crazy. Or at least I think this is the end of the world.

Author's note-
Sorry this one is so short. I wanted this chapter to end with the first episode so I just wrote this part really quickly. This is actually a lot of fun lol.

QOTC: So Anastasia experienced the Apocalypse as well?

Yeah, actually. Anastasia stayed in her endless void for like 13 years before she came back a few days after the apocalypse in 2019. All of her hard work of replicating a human body just to come back and have nothing except herself. The reason her and Five never meet was because she lived in Los Angeles while he was in New York. She joined the commission a few years before he did too. In the second book you'll find out a few more things about her and what the endless void did to her.
