Hope you enjoy the oneshot although it's a pretty short one...

Just a small introduction I suppose as I haven't created an "about the author" page yet

"Dad, are you okay? Purgatory has really fucked everyone over, hasn't it."

Cellbit glanced over to the male next to him, patiently waiting for a response. The answer seemed to come after hours of silence, the atmosphere and everything in it still as the two were absorbed into another world. Why hadn't he responded?

The quietness was almost overwhelming. Deafening, even.

                                     ***

He stared at the lifeless body in front of him, then to the bloodied knife in his hand. He'd murdered someone. He was only young, even he had the awareness of that. Yet there was no going back now, he already knew after you'd killed someone you'd be changed forever. That was correct, nothing had ever been the same ever since. It only got worse, actually. Onwards from that he had resorted to consuming others for survival, as his hunger had been getting low. God, he'd never knew what hunger could drive you to do until he was on the verge of starvation and almost death.

All of this suffering was bestowed upon him due to something called the hunger games. It was based off of the show, he's pretty sure. However he was one of the contestants and the rules were simple; fight to the death. Many had their own methods and tactics, yet he was simply a teenager. His methods were originally to either run, hide and if confronted to throw himself into a fight and face the consequences. He was taught differently though later on.

He thought alongside someone who had the features of a demon. At first, he didn't truly believe a demon would be presented in the games. Yet, his partners looks weren't fake and he truly was a demon with an even more peculiar name. It was very recognisable though, very easy to remember.

Badboyhalo.

The demon basically mentored him, taught him everything he knew and a better strategy when it came to the games. Instead of fleeing, they started going with more direct approaches. They started actually entering fights and injuring others. Cellbit couldn't help but look up to and admire the demon's fighting skills. Especially as he watched him swiftly pierce others in the heart  as he let the blade linger in their skin. Then when they drew their last breath he would pull it out. He'd grown up around this death and by Badboyhalo had grown used to it. Due to his mentor, he practically saw a murderer as a role model in such an environment. It wasn't shocking though, this became normal when you were surrounded by it so much, especially at such a young age. He idolised Badnoyhalo; he so desperately wanted to be like him.

However, the harsh reality hit when he actually had succeeded in his first kill. He hadn't meant to, yet it had just happened. He had some sort of adrenaline rush, and with a scream and a blur a person had dropped to the floor in front of him. He'd froze. Staring at the pool of crimson that he'd created. Staring at the blood that was only spilt because of him. He'd took away someone's whole life, and changed his own in the process. The path of his life had gone in a different direction, it had been altered forever and instantly he knew it. He couldn't breathe, nor move. He chocked on his own saliva and had to hunch over with the abrupt feeling of retching. It was disgusting. Nothing could ever bring him to describe the events of that day, it was unexplainable how he felt even in the current day.

His mentor had been overly understanding though, comforting him and reassuring him about it all. He'd never been forced to actually kill. To be honest, it likely hadn't even been suggested. Yet he'd done it now, and that was it. Badboyhalo was open to the idea of the two of them becoming a more violent duo now. Badboyhalo never told the story of why he started killing, and as he was a demon Cellbit wondered if he had some sort of dark past. He didn't pry into it though and never actually found out. He just knew that he was very talented when it came to fast deaths. They seemed almost graceful in Cellbit's eyes yet to another it would definitely be more gruesome and rough.
