Soul Awakening

Chaoter 13 "Give Me Time"

-Maka: As expected Blackstar leapt forward, delivering the first blow at astounding speed and force, an explosive bang filling our ears as Jinx flies back crashing straight through the walls of her fortress. We follow her out the hole and take a look at our surroundings, and even though the inside was glorious and well put together as if the richest beings lived there, the outside was nothing but a rocky wasteland, completely different from the inside. Jinx skidded across the rough surface as the impact left smoke rising around her. She stands slowly, brushes the dust from her dress and faces us once again. I squint my eyes and analyze her soul and wavelength, as expected, she placed a large amount of magic on herself, controlling her soul will be difficult. "You two go ahead, I have to try and come up with a strategy."
-Blackstar: "I gotta strategy!" He yells as he delivers attack after attack, failing to make contact. "Kill the damn bitch!"
-Maka: He turns to her once again and purges her hard in her gut, she goes flying once again but still hardly any affect. "What's going on?" She isn't even fighting back, and she's getting back up as if she was merely shoved.
-Jinx: "Hehe, with all that power you have obtained and that's the best you've got? Pitiful."
-Maka: She laughs mockingly, extending her arms to the side as if on a cross, grinning smugly at us. "Get back!! Don't let go of your weapons!!" As I understand what's going on, portals begin to open one after another from behind her. People begin to drop from the portals and charge right at us, as they grow closer we can all see clearly just who it is. "N...No way..." I snap myself out of my daze and prepare to battle the seemingly endless number of Asura's approaching.
-Kid: "I had the feeling that killing him wouldn't be enough some day, were stronger now but I highly doubt were strong enough to take on a hundred Asura's, and I'm almost certain he has the same Godly power as the one we took down."
-Blackstar: "Who cares, we'll take them all down before they have the chance to even fight back!" I charge after them, using Speed Star to close the gap even faster, with all this extra power I get their in only a few seconds, sending Tsubaki's blade straight through one of them in an instant, his upper half falls off his bottom half. "That...was kind of-"
-Maka: We watch as he is purged back to us, coughing up blood. "You idiot, they're not gonna be like the one we fought, a few might be a bit weak but I'm certain they're all powerful."
-Kid: "That's true, I ended up in the alternate of our world when I begin walking on the Line, Asura and Medusa were still alive, I had to fight them in order to escape and the only reason I got out is because Asura also wanted to defeat Medusa to leave. There's no way we can split up and fight them ourselves, we'll have to take it a bit at a time. I just hope we can make this work." I stand up straight and aim Patty at a group coming at us from our right, firing round after round, each blast only doing little damage to the godlike creatures. I grit my teeth, "Maka think later, fight now. We need all of us in this!"
-Maka: "Got it!" Without hesitation I make a dash for another group that separated from the main group to come around to our left, as if they split up to try and surround us. "Ready Soul!?"
-Soul: "HELL YEAH!!" Her resonance gets stronger and I concentrate, making sure to keep her strength at a steady yet strong point. I turn and see a white piano approaching from nowhere, I take one step towards it and my once black striped suit appears on me, now completely white with a red and black tie. I chuckle to myself and look at Maka from my blade, "A gift? For me? Ah you shouldn't have." I smile and take my seat.
-Maka: I smile, "Only the finest piano a meister could make for her weapon, now, play me something that gets all our blood boiling." I connect the link between Blackstar, Kid and I and they feel the power surge through them. "Ready when you are, Soul."
-Soul: I close my eyes and run my long fingers over the key, not pressing on any of them yet, I take in a gentle gust of air and in an instant begin the first note, making sure not a single part of this song gives any leniency to their wavelengths, forcing all the power within me into each note as I play this song, making sure every sound will forever been burned into their minds.
-Maka: We stand their frozen for a second as each note swiftly and smoothly goes into the next, the strength building up, our wavelengths supporting each other in every way, Souls blade shines even brighter and a long but short blade extends from the other side of his blade, almost mirroring his original. My hair flows in the wind as the enormous wavelength gives off a white smokey glow around me. I take off, my feet reach farther lengths as I'm able to run faster than ever, my body feels weightless, Soul is weightless as I drag his sharp blade through a body. Blood splattering here and there as I take down Asura one after another, strangely, it feels like it's too easy. When we fought Asura years ago he was strong, and even big until we finally broke his barrier, but these Asura's seem almost powerless. Some are fighting back, send beams of his red laser at Blackstar, Kid and I ever so often, but it still seems off. I decide to pause and regroup, I head for the group and see they're still fired up. "Anyone else seem off?"
-Kid: "I feel like this is just a front. The Asura we battled was hundreds, even thousands of times stronger than these pitiful things. Some aren't even fighting they're just aimlessly walking to their deaths, other are firing random blows at us from the back."
-Blackstar: "Where's the witch?" I jump back and keep up guard, trying to search for Jinx but seeing her nowhere.
-Maka: "I see, this must've been a decoy to make a run for it. We gotta find her before she makes more traps to hold us up." They nod and we make a run for it, running up a tall Boulder to get a sky view, but as expected there's nothing but rocks and dirt and more rocks. "She must've gone back to the castle or whatever that is, but I don't detect her soul at all, even with soul protect there's no one here now." Then it hits me, "Damnet she went back!" I grip Souls handle tightly in irritation.
-Kid: "A plain yet simple escape route."
-Blackstar: Maka is about to open a portal to guide us back to our world, but I grab her shoulder, "Wait..."
-Maka: "What is it? We need to hurry or we may be too late..."
-Blackstar: "What happened...before everything went dark, before Soul vanished, and while you and him were missing. We looked everywhere and couldn't find you, yet we could sense your presence. I can't even see souls or sense wavelengths and yet I could sense it all so perfectly as if you were standing right next to me the whole time. The way you got us here, there's no way you could've easily done that, and what exactly did you do to give us this power."
-Kid: "For once I agree with Blackstar, I'm curious as well as to how you managed to do all of this after appearing before us so suddenly, one minute we're desperately searching for you across all these universes, and the next moment were blasting through your chest and are now given massive amounts of power to fight a witch we've known close to nothing about the whole time we've been made aware of her existence. I know we're short on time but can't we at least get some sort of explanation."
-Maka: I hesitate, wondering if I should really tell them, I glance at Soul who also looks uneasy. "Soul and I were separated, so I don't know what he's been through...but I doubt being by Jinx's side meant he had something like a luxurious lifestyle. She made me see things so I'm not what was real or fake."
-Soul: "That's one hell of an understatement, as for me, all I know is in our dying moments together Maka muttered-" I paused, blush slightly and revert my eyes to the ground away from everyone, "something...to me, and just as she said it everything went black. Then when things cleared up I was Jinx's slave, when I resisted she would torture me and then force me to watch fake recordings she conjured up of Maka and everyone else being killed or hurt or tortured, cliche I know but you never realize how much that stuff messes with your mentality. It's overused because it's so useful, anyways I didn't realize how much crap she was feeding into my system until Maka got it out when she saved me, it's like I was being shot up with magic drugs or something, I couldn't move unless she gave me an order or I needed to protect her, and I couldn't even think for myself. I'm not really even sure how long this went on, I tried to keep count but there's no night or day here as you can see, it feels like it's been years."
-Maka: "2 to be exact, well more like 2 years and about 4 months, let's just say she awakened this Soul Manipulation from within me and then dropped me in some universe where Soul never existed to me, I had a different partner and she erased all memory of Soul, so I even fell...in love with him..." Feeling guilty I look down, "But I kept having these reoccurring dreams of this guy that looked like Soul from behind, calling my name but I had no idea who he was, the dreams began about 6 months after I got to that realm. When I questioned Lord Death about it he brushed it off and gave me missions, this went on for the next 6 months. Eventually I stopped trying, I just figured it was some stranger, people dream about people they've never met before so I figured it wasn't a big deal. But then the dream turned into a nightmare, after he called my name 3 times he suddenly got attacked, a black and red blade lodged into his chest. I woke up screaming but then blacked out, I woke up and found myself in the infirmary and went straight to Lord Death, he finally spilled everything to me, Jinx got enraged and ripped me from that realm as I traveled through the realms everything flooded back to me, all my memories. When I faced Jinx that's when I saw Soul, his eyes were glossed over with a small sparkle, I knew he was under her magic, I attempted to fight but she immediately trapped me within her own little playground where she..." I trail off, not wanting to go on, "had me fight a lot. Look that took longer than I thought so let's go already. I'll explain everything later cmon!"
-Kid: Blackstar and I exchange a look of uneasiness, both feeling like there's a big part of the story that she's not telling us, I nod as if to say 'we'll wait until she is ready' and he nods in agreeance, we stand behind Maka and she creates a portal with ease. "You have gotten a lot stronger, Maka."
-Maka: "This Soul Manipulation, there's so much I don't know and I want to learn more, but the more I learn, the more I feel like it's a curse, and then I realize how ironic it is, I got into this mess because a damn curse, and now I'm using another curse-like strength to get out of this. I'll tell y'all the full story soon, so please just give me some time." I look over and they smile softly and nod. I close my eyes and set the destination. "Next stop, Home."
