The tattoo artist, Mia, sat alone in her dimly lit studio, surrounded by an eclectic collection of inks and needles. Her hands were stained with the remnants of a particularly intricate piece she'd been working on all afternoon. The air was thick with the scent of burning incense and the faint sound of a vinyl record spinning on the turntable in the corner. As she finished up her latest masterpiece, a strange feeling of unease crept over her. It wasn't unlike the sensation she sometimes got when she knew a client was about to come in with a particularly dark and twisted story to tell. And tonight, she was right.
The detective, James, walked briskly into the studio, his expression grim. "Mia," he began, "I need your help again." She looked up at him, her green eyes narrowing. "What is it this time?" He took a deep breath, hesitating before continuing. "There's been another murder. The victim had a tattoo of a spider web on her neck."
Mia's heart sank. She knew what this meant. The killer had struck again. "Bring me the body, James," she said quietly, her voice steady despite the turmoil within. "I'll do what I can to help."
The two of them made their way to the morgue, where they waited for the coroner to finish with the body. As they waited, Mia couldn't help but feel a sense of dread settling in her stomach. The spider web tattoo was a detail she hadn't missed, and it was all too familiar. She knew what it meant for the investigation, and for her own safety. But she couldn't back out now. Not when there was a killer on the loose.
