The day started with me waking up to a pounding headache. As I slowly became aware of my surroundings, I realized I was in Mikhaulia Castle. The events from the previous night flooded back to me: the exhaustive lessons with Lady Aleina that lasted well into the early hours, with Ashkira and Daxton silently watching us. We had decided to stay at the castle instead of the noisy tavern nearby, at Ashkira's suggestion.
Struggling against the ache in my head, I rised and staggered over to the window. Through blurred vision, I spotted Ashkira in the garden below, surrounded by knights who were preparing for the upcoming festival. Despite my discomfort, I can't help but admire Ashkira's tireless energy. The princess is in her element, orchestrating the preparations with a commanding presence.
I leaned against the window frame, taking in the scene before me. Ashkira, with her striking silver hair cascading beyond her shoulders, looked every bit the royal she is. Her pale skin contrasted beautifully with the royal blue dress she sore, which seemed to amplify her regal demeanor. Even in the early morning light, Ashkira exuded a majestic air that captivated me.
As I watched, a sense of awe and respect welled up within me. I realized anew the responsibilities that weighed on Ashkira's shoulders and the grace with which the princess carried herself. Despite the headache that threatens to cloud my thoughts, I found myself inspired by Ashkira's dedication and strength.
In that quiet moment by the window, I silently reaffirmed my commitment to learn from Ashkira, not just in combat or strategy, but in the art of leadership and resilience. The sight of Ashkira, immersed in her duties yet retaining her elegance, left me with a newfound determination to navigate the challenges ahead, both as Lady Aleina's student and as someone learning to navigate the complexities of their abilities.
With a sigh, I pushed myself away from the window, resolving to face the day with the same determination I saw in Ashkira. Despite the lingering headache, I knew that I, too, have a role to play in the upcoming festival preparations. And as I joined Lady Aleina at the castle's library, I carried with me a quiet admiration for the princess who continued to inspire me, even in the simplest moments of the day.
I found myself traversing through the different books inside the castle's with the sudden interest to search for a book, that would explain my abilities. I had hoped for a record in the castle's archives that could somehow elucidate the nature of the power I possessed. But the challenge rested in the unusual unending number of books inside the library. I hesitated for a second and glanced over the railings at the first floor of the library. Lady Aleina stood in the middle occupied with her spell book. As I watched, I noticed her casting a spell to contact the other nations. Transparent, floating words materialized around her, shimmering with a faint light. These ethereal words began to traverse through the library's window, heading towards the direction of the Allied nations. The sight was mesmerizing, a beautiful blend of magic and purpose, and it made me realize the extent of Lady Aleina's power. She even noticed my gaze, despite being deep concentration. "Forgive me, Young Lady Erisalyn, but perhaps we should continue our lesson tomorrow."
I nodded, "Of course... Lady Aleina. I know of your responsibilities to the king. I would not want to be a hinder." After that, Lady Aleina did not reply. I figured she was still taken aback upon hearing the idea of me riding an eyle. But, I could not seem to pinpoint the exact cause. Ashkira was there. She drew the reins of the beast and I simply rode with her. I wondered as to why it would be so wrong. However, I knew in myself that I would not be able to ask her such a question, and knowing she'd already dismissed my presence, I simply left the library.
The corridors of the castle were quiet, the only being the soft patter of my footsteps. My mind raced with thoughts of the library and the unanswered questions about my powers. I had wished that Lady Aleina would provide with some insight, but I did not wish to interrupt any further with the task she had to accomplish.
