"Are you really not seeing anyone right now, Sukuna?"
No, he isn't. Or is he?
Many would assume that the token bad boy of Jujutsu High would be jumping around from partner to partner, breaking their hearts and leaving them in the dust. Surprisingly, however, Sukuna was too busy for romance. He's dedicated too much of his time whipping the boys basketball team into shape after being appointed captain, and he's unexpectedly busy putting effort into his academics. Sukuna never excelled in school - his record would speak for itself shamefully. But rumors are rumors, and assumptions are always bound to spread as quickly and as widely as wildfire.
In the eyes of unassuming passers-by, they would say that Sukuna was doing his best to get a good scholarship at a good university. But others would know all too well that he would never be motivated in such a way. He would never do it unless it was something truly special. Not just something, but someone.
Because Sukuna Ryomen never listens to anyone. But maybe just this once, he will.
Junior Yuji Itadori notices how often he sees you and Sukuna together these days. You were the representative of your class, someone Yuji knew Sukuna wouldn't bode well with, except he was proven very wrong. Very frequently, he catches glimpses from outside the hallway, you sitting too close to Sukuna inside the classroom (did you have to scoot in that closely to teach him math?). Yuji's even fast enough to see your grinning face smile up at Sukuna as you leave gifts after both the practice matches and the game itself (but they were for everybody!). And he most definitely does not see Sukuna stroll up to you to offer you lunch (even when he didn't have that much to offer - you always brought your own). None catches his attention the most when he finally sees the fateful moment when you would be walking home with Sukuna.
Maybe Sukuna befriended you, but there's always something more for Yuji's overly curious gaze. He could ignore it as easily as he could sleep in class, but he prides himself in being a little shit, why wouldn't he poke his head in other people's business?
"Is Ryomen here?"
Tensions were high among the Jujutsu High boys basketball team. There's Coach Yaga running over the plans over and over again, riding on pure frustration and triumph. There are the first years, chatting rather loudly for everyone's liking, there are the second years, throwing tumblers at each other from across the court, and there are the third years, bolstering the morale of the team. The sound of the crowd filing into the gym and balls hitting the floor from drills are exhilarating, but your only goal is to wish Sukuna a good game before he begins.
