Cause everybody has a purpose, something that keeps them going, living and wondering.

Every day started relatively the same. Today included. When Joan opened her eyes, she immediately covered them with her hand as soon as she was blinded by the glare of the sun creeping through the window into the bedroom. Looking to her left, she laughed softly as she saw an empty spot in the bed and only a small letter. She leaned in that direction, and when she had the paper in her hands, she unfolded it and began to read.

"I didn't want to wake you, but your father needed my help in the morning. Besides, I thought you could use a little more sleep. I'll see you when I finish my shift at the station.
Matt."

The woman just sighed and rolled her eyes. She might have expected her fiancé to have more important things to do than have breakfast with her. After all, he had to be at the station every day from Monday to Friday. Being a policeman was not always easy, not only for him, but for her as well. As soon as she got out of bed and put on Matt's red plaid shirt, she took in his scent, sighing softly as she smelled his perfume. She loved it, every time she was near him and surrounded by his scent, she knew she was safe. After a couple of minutes Joan stretched and went downstairs to the kitchen to make breakfast for herself and the rest of the family.

At the same time, Matt was sitting in the radio car, drinking a coke and listening to his co-worker's story. As soon as he heard the mention of how difficult marriage is, he couldn't stand it and burst out laughing.

"Boy, you're laughing and I'm telling you the hard truth!" laughed Doug, the coworker in question and Matt's good friend after hours. "I'm telling you, that woman is evil. I love her, of course, how could I not, but fuck! Her temper is worse than a rabid dog's." The brunette continued, joining Matt in his laughter.

The blond didn't last long, slapping his thigh as he tried to control his laughter. He had heard similar stories and a similar comparison every time, but at the same time Doug's words were getting funnier every time.

"Listen, I don't know how to tell you this, but I'm not only a friend of yours, but also of your wife." Matt started, looking at the green-eyed man eloquently, but his eyes betrayed that he was really just laughing.

Doug rolled his eyes at the words and laughed softly as he reached for his ham and cheese sandwich. He was a simple guy, it showed. He took a bite and as he began to chew, he muttered something before looking back at Matt.

"You know, maybe marriage sucks... but there is one thing I would never change." The green-eyed man said and a slight smile appeared on his lips. "Jenny and our kids. I love them terribly, you know? So it doesn't matter how many times she slaps me on the head or yells that I'm late, because every time I'll kiss her on the forehead and say, 'It's good to see you, too, honey.' Because I really love her and I love our kids." Doug added, now looking at the road ahead of them.

Matt couldn't help but admire his friend for, despite how tired he sometimes was after work, he still managed to greet his usually nervous wife and his three children. After a while, the blond man patted his friend on the shoulder and gave him a small smile.

"You and Jenny are definitely a compatible couple," Matt murmured, knowing that Doug had heard him.

"Tell me about it! Of course we are."
