O A T H; a solemn promise, often invoking a divine witness, regarding one's future action or behaviour.

Two days later, Judy and Kristine were still at the Blackburn home, all because of the riots that began the next morning. As a result, Matt and his friend Doug were summoned urgently to the station to discuss the details of bringing the city's chaos under control.

Shortly after ten o'clock, the two men were back in their patrol car, driving on a signal to where other deputies had blocked the street before spreading all the chaos that was happening on the other side. The brunet and the blond exchanged communicative glances before getting out of the car and unlocking their guns.

"I don't think it's going to go well, the whole hospital is full of sick people... and people from here went crazy and started a riot." Doug muttered, glancing at Matt before they both stood next to their friends at the station.

What was happening on the other side of the barricade made them both swallow their saliva slowly, feeling like this sight would be etched in their brains forever. People were fighting with each other, smashing shop windows, some even stabbing each other with knives or shooting at each other, but what was even stranger was that some people were running away screaming from other people who were acting strangely. It was as if they were biting or eating those who had already been shot or captured by them.

At one point, a woman ran up to a barricade made of high netting, punched it, and screamed loudly. Matt's brow furrowed as he tried to squeeze between the armed cops at the front of the barricade, and as soon as he did, his breath caught in his throat. The woman standing on the other side of the barricade was covered in blood, and there was a large wound on her arm from which blood was oozing hissily.

"Please, I beg you! Help us!" The woman cried, pulling at the net with her hands.

One of the armed policemen pointed a rifle at her, and the blond man standing next to him only furrowed his brow, his eyes darting between the woman and the policeman.

"What are you doing? She needs help, she's bleeding out! She needs a doctor, damn it!" The blond man shouted, tugging at the arm of the man next to him, who only pointed at him.

Wilson immediately stepped back, raising his hands in a defensive gesture, and his eyes went to Doug, who was standing behind the deputy, showing him not to try to negotiate with the retard. The man decided to listen to his friend and took two steps back, moving away from the grate and at the same time returning to his previous position, once again standing shoulder to shoulder with the armed officer.

"We have orders to isolate this part of the city and no one from here is allowed to leave the barricade." The policeman said coolly, reloading his rifle before taking aim again at the woman on the other side.

Matt wanted to say something, do something, but just as he opened his mouth to speak, he heard a gunshot and immediately felt small drops of blood covering the skin on his cheek and temple. When he turned to look at the woman, all he saw was a lifeless body sliding lifelessly down the grate, sending a cold shiver down his spine. He stared at the woman's body in silence for a moment before his eyes darted back to the armed policeman who had taken her life in such an inhumane manner for Matt.

In an instant, all rational thought left his head as his brain decided to imagine what would have happened if his loved one had been in the stranger's place. Anger overcame him as he lunged at the man and began to hit him with his fists in the only place his body wasn't only protected. The face. The man there was stunned for a moment, unable to dodge the blond's blows, before common sense took over and, without thinking too much, he aimed his gun at Wilson's side.
