Malik"So the answer is 4." I said quite confidently.
After school Austin and I stayed back in the library to get me started on tutoring. He decided to focus on my weakest areas first so to no one's surprise algebra was at the top of the list cause why the hell do we even have letters in math. We've been at it for almost two hours now and I was beginning to think I had the hang of it that was until Austin interjected.
"Well... you are right." He started but continued before I could start celebrating.
"But, the answer is incomplete. See what you did was solve X now you have to remembered to add that figure back into the equation." He pointed out. Shit he was right.
"Fuck! " I said facepalming myself and he giggled.
"Don't be too hard on yourself you did solve for X, and all your working was correct just remember to complete the equation at the end." He encouraged me.
"So the answer is 12?" I said less confidently this time it came out as more of a question.
"Correct! Good job Malik." He said with enthusiasm. I exhaled a sigh of relief.
"I'd say that's enough for today you did really well I think you actually caught on to most of it pretty well." He said gathering his books together.
"Thanks I have a pretty incredible teacher." I replied and he blushed. It was ... cute
"So will I be seeing you at basketball tryouts tomorrow?" I inquired as we both stood up. I already know the answer I just wanted to make conversation.
"Oh of course I'll be there. You know I once beat Patrick Mahomes in a basketball game." He said jokingly. Poor thing has now idea the extent to how hilarious that was though. I burst out laughing.
"Alright come on now it's not that funny." He said with a little chuckle.
"Oh but it is." I said cracking up again. My laugh echoed through the empty hallways that we were now walking down.
"Come on we both know I could never realistically beat a professional basketball player." He said a little defensive. I think he's a little embarrassed.
"Thats the thing dude Pat Mahomes is a football player." I replied before laughing again.
"Oh!" He said and of all the times I've seen him blush this is the reddest he's gotten.
"Oh you poor thing." I said rufflingj is hair it was soft very soft.
"In my defense I only have girl friends ." He said trying to hide his embarrassment.
"Well good thing you have me now then." I said and he looked up at me. His eyes are so blue are eyes even suppose to be that blue?
"Are you saying we're friends?" He asked he's was hesitant but, hopeful it was....cute.
"Of course dude you're literally helping me do the thing I love the most that's a friend if I ever knew one." I said as I wrapped my arm around his shoulder and continued walking he blushed and leaned into me a bit and we made our way to the exit. In a weird way it felt like he belonged there.
We separated by the time we got to the parking lot.
"Well now that we're friends will you come to the tryouts and support me?" I asked. A part of me was kinda nervous about his answer guess I want him to come more than I thought.
"Well I do have to tutor you after so it would give me something to do for a bit." He answered and I smiled.
"Awesome!" I said ruffling his hair again.
