It's my last 6 weeks of summer break before I start my last year of high school. My parents decided to take a trip to our beach house in Miami, Florida. I told my younger sister, Hannah, to start packing for the trip.
"Mckayla, Hannah, we are leaving in 45 minutes," My mom yelled from downstairs.
"Okay," I yelled back.
I grabbed my luggage from the top of my closet and started packing my things: clothes, bikini, charger, portable charger, earbuds, etc. 15 minutes later I finished packing and went downstairs to leave it by the front door, where I see my parents' luggage. I go back upstairs to Hannah's room to see if she needs any help. When I step into her room, I see that her room is a mess.
"Hannah?" I called out.
"In here," she called from the closet.
I walked into the closet and see even a bigger mess than there was in her room. 15 year olds. Am I right?
"Why does it look like a tornado came by in your room?"
"I can't find anything I want to pack for the trip."
"Well here let me help you," I offered.
"Okay," she smiled.
I took her luggage from the top of her closet and set it on the bed. A few seconds later Hannah came out with a ton of clothes and put it in the luggage.
"I think that filled it up."
"I still need to pack a few other things. Do you think you can fold my clothes while I go get them?"
"Sure."
Hannah went to the other side of the room while I started folding her clothes.
"Girls, we only have 15 minutes until we leave," my mom called from downstairs.
I quickly folded her clothes and when I finished Hannah threw in a couple of other things. We went downstairs with 5 minutes to spare. Being the good person I am, I decided to start putting the luggage in the truck of the car.
"Hey Hannah, do you think you can help me put the things in the trunk."
"Sure thing."
Together we finished locked the front door and got in the car.
"Girls, thanks for putting the cases in the car," my mom said.
"Yeah, I really appreciate it," my dad smiles.
We drove out of our driveway and I took out my earphones and plugged them into my phone.
I unlocked my phone and saw that I got a text message from my best friend Jocelyn (the awesome author of this story). Jocelyn isn't like my other friends. She's creative, funny, smart, and she doesn't like white people (its a joke. dont take it too seriously xD). I'm kinda glad she opened up to me because a lot of her friends are mexicans and I am white. But when we were partnered up for a school project I thought she was going to be a total bitch. Turns out she is. But we are a bitch to each other so that is kinda our thing. Other times she's sweet. Like the time the jerk of my ex boyfriend cheated on me. I didn't go to school for 3 days because I just knew he would just be the jerk he is. Jocelyn came over with 2 cartons of ice cream. The chocolate chip cookie dough carton was for her because that's her favorite and a carton of cookies n creme for me. She knows me so well. That day we just ate the ice cream and laughed as we watched some stupid episodes on netflix.
'Heyy' the message read. I responded and we texted back and forth until she went to a party with her boyfriend. Typical Jocelyn. She loves going to parties but the only thing is she can be more than a bitch the next day. I laid my head on the window and listening to a song when my phone started ringing. 'Matt <3' the name read. A smile came to my face as I answered. We talked back and forth. Him telling me that he loves me and misses me. I love Matthew so much. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I know that sounds very cheesy but its true. After my ex dumped me, I thought I wasn't going to be dating anyone anymore. I met Matt at a party Jocelyn took me to that her friend Catherine was throwing. She's really chill but we don't talk too much. Catherine invited Matt and I bumped into him in the party. From there is when things clicked and we got to know each other more. We hung out after school and he asked me out. Of course I said yes.
We talked and talked until it was getting late and he had to go. 2 hours later, my dad started looking really tired. My mom and sister fell asleep a few hours earlier.
"Hey dad, if you want , I can drive while you get some sleep?" I offered.
"No thanks sweetie. I'm fine. Thanks though," he yawned.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure."
A couple moments later I felt myself dozing off. I unplugged my headphones and turned off my phone. As the time went by, sleep was calling my name. I felt my tired eyes slowly closing. A couple minutes later, I fell asleep, dreaming of graduating my last year of high school. I was just getting my diploma when I heard a loud crash, waking me up. My body jolted to the side and my head hit the window . Hard. I felt blood blood oozing from the side of my face and that's when I started seeing black dots.
