After that fiasco at the bookshop, I decided it would be a great idea to clear my system with a coffee break. The coffee shop wasn't to far from the book shop, only around the corner.

So I continued on, my heels somewhat making my presence known. Thinking of what I should get at the shop. Maybe something sugary? I am feeling a little sweet today.

Before I knew if I was already there and entering the small building. The sound of the bell alerting the shop owner and customer has arrived. Coming out of a backroom from behind the counter a middle aged monster greeted me.

"Ah, good day miss, what can I get for you?"

"Oh um, I will take a regular small coffee with 3 sugar cubes.", I responded.

"And will that be here or to go?", he asked me.

"Here please."

The monster proceeded to swiftly walk back into the other room to prepare my beverage. I sit in a chair of a table for two in a cosy spot in the corner. I pull out a book I had previously rented to cure my boredom.

The sound of a bell chime was heard, someone had just walked in. But, I paid no mind to them, for I was engrossed in my new novel.

A voice snapped me out of the moment, "Heh, funny seeing you again, madam."

I look up to see him again, what a coincidence? Jokingly I replied, "Gee, are you following me mister?"

A purplish dust grazed his cheek bones, and a nervous smile grew on his face. He scratched the back of his neck to try and reassure himself.

"O-of course not! That's not very gentlemanly of me then is it?"

Golly, he was a lot more nicer than the other villagers tried to make him put to be. We all know his other half, Dream. We know him pretty well, seeing as he visits the town almost every day. Maybe all these rumors started 'cuz some of the townspeople don't like the thought of negativity?

Well, if no one'll be kind to him, I guess I'll do it instead. I gesture to the seat across from mine.
"Care to join me?"

His face was full of surprise, "Are you sure ma'am? I don't mean to intrude."

"Oh go on! Have a seat, I asked in the first place!", I motioned my hand toward the chair.

Nightmare reluctantly sat down, and he subtly began fiddling with his thumbs. He cleared his nonexistent throat at asked me a few questions, trying to get to know me.

"So, what's your name miss?"

"Y/N.", I smiled at him.

A small smile could be seen on his face,
"Gosh, ain't that just a lovely name."

My face grew warm, and I brought my book up to cover my face a bit. I don't think I've ever really been complimented like that before. A small giggle of excitement ripped through my chest.

"Oh, stop it."

But, before he could respond the owner of the store approached us with drinks in his hands. Setting them down on the table, he told us the price for the beverages. As I was pulling out my coin purse, Nightmare set 4g on the table, which was enough to pay for both drinks.

Before I could try to stop him and pay for my drink. The owner left without a word.

Nightmare could see the obvious annoyance on my face chuckled, " It would be rude not to pay for your drink, dear."

"Oh, you're just too kind, mister Nightmare.", Nightmare's face contorted into one of awkwardness.

"There's no need to use formalities with me, Y/N, just call me Nightmare."

After that we both ended up talking, laughing, and having a good time in the small shop. We didn't even realize how late it actually was. It wasn't until when I was mid conversation did the shop owner force us out.

"Alright lovebirds, you've loitered enough. Now scram!", he chuckled.

We got out of our seats apologizing to the man before exiting the door, Nightmare holding the door open for me. We padded down the street a few feet before Nightmare asked me a question, "Y/N, are you free tomorrow?"

"Why yes I am, why you may ask?", I pondered.

Nightmare looked a little nervous, "I-I want to take you out on a little picnic by the tree."

I was a little confused at first. The tree? Whatever does he mean? But my question was answered by the man himself. It was as if he knew exactly what I thought.

"The tree of feeling, my dear.", my eye sockets widened in surprise. 𝑇ℎ𝑒 tree? Oh, wow am I a lucky girl.

"Oh, of course I'll go with you!"

Pleased with that answer, smile was plastered onto his face, and he decided to walk me home. Seeing how dark it is, it would be very dangerous for me to go anywhere. The two of us didn't have to travel very far. We approached the door, and Nightmare turns to face me.

"Well I guess I'll see you tomorrow noon." he proceeded to gently hold my hand and bring it up to his mouth. Nightmare placed a kiss onto my hand before saying his goodbyes and leaving.

With a weird feeling in my soul I enter my house to prepare for tomorrow.
