The night sky is cloudy, a crescent moon the only faint glow in the sky. A lady stands at the railing of a balcony high on a grand castle. Silent tears falling despite the smile on her lips, the pain hiding behind the clouds in her eyes.
She wasn't like the others chosen to be here, and her heart knew it. He had to know, the future king of their grand country. She was wild, untamed, unusual. Scarred by whims of young love, and bold in her demeanor. Not the demure and blissfully graceful future queen he needed. Maybe that's why it hurt more? She walked her way into pain once again.
She closes her eyes and sings softly under her breath as she pets the one constant companion she had left. She walks inside, still singing under her breath as she goes to the desk, writing a letter. Maybe a lady of the sea would never truly find solid ground for roots to grow. She did try, but people in her life were like that of sea foam. Always bound to disappear.
Dear Kuhlii,
Find her, love her like I know you will. Cherish her, cherish them. Never stop finding joy in the small things. But you know this all by now. We both know I wasn't made to last, not in a place like this. The anchor does not hold forever.
I will see you again I am sure, but it will not be the same. You have taken a piece of my heart but it's alright to keep it. I am glad to have you carved into my heart, the memories will last forever. Just remember it is okay to forget me.
Look to the sea and you will find the whisps of who I was before I met you. But now I will find myself drowning, silently, in what you are. And maybe I become colder like you once were, it may save the knife from my soul. But I will be just fine, don't worry yeah? Hold tight to your happpiness, you deserve it.Sincerely,
Your Lady of the Sea
