PRESENT TIME
Summer Collins groaned as she got out of her sister's car, rolling her eyes softly at something she had said. though they were only behind in age by one year, Summer always felt like sometimes she was more of the older one instead of Erin. "you know, if you just talk to him, you'd be able to fix shit." Summer replied, slamming the car door, tugging on the straps of her backpack as she turned to look at her sister. "Danny misses being around you, you know. if you'd open your eyes and stop fucking around with Cole, you'd see that."
Erin rolled her eyes at her younger sister's words, closing the driver side door as she slipped her purse onto her shoulder, shaking her head softly. "I doubt that. we drifted away after Cole and I started dating in grade eight, Summer. besides, we barely talk now anyways. wouldn't talking to him make things awkward since you know.. I'm quite literally hooking up with his older brother?"
"Erin, for fuck sakes! just fucking talk to him. I'm tired of hearing of it from the both of you. you're both in grade eleven now; you're quite literally graduating together next year. don't you think you should try and talk to him before fucking graduation?" Summer asked as she started to walk towards the doors to Silver Falls High. even though Summer was a lesbian and Danny was no where near her type, she knew Danny was Erin's. though she knew Erin would never see Danny like that, Summer was now making it her mission to get the both of them together by the end of the school year, even if she had to lock them both in a closet of some sort.
Erin sighed as she slowly followed in behind her sister. truth was, she missed Danny just as much as he missed her. but ever since grade eight and Cole asking her out, the two of them had drifted apart and hadn't really talked much unless it was for some kind of class project they were forced to do together. and even then, that time together was full of silence, neither one knowing what to say unless it had to do with the project. she knew her younger sister was right, though she'd never admit it out loud. they were graduating together next year and if both of them had plans to make Julliard, something her mother never knew about nor her sister or Danny, she knew the two of them would be seeing each other a lot more. if her dad was still alive, he'd be telling her to make a move and start talking to Danny again.
"I hate how you're always right, you know." Erin groaned as the two walked into the school, Erin's eyes immediately meeting with Danny's. Summer rolled her eyes as she started at the two teenagers, throwing her hands up as she walked away. "maybe you two should just kiss already, my god. I'll see you at lunch, Danny."
Danny snapped out of his gaze with Erin, gulping softly. "yeah, okay." he replied, watching as she walked off before turning his attention back to the older sister standing in front of him. "hey.. Erin."
Erin smiled softly, giving him a soft wave. "hey.." she replied, rocking on the balls of her feet before feeling an arm wrapping around her shoulder, rolling her eyes softly. "Cole, I thought I told you we aren't together anymore."
Danny raised an eyebrow as he stared at the both of them. "another breakup? isn't that like.. the sixth one this week?"
"it's actually our third" Cole replied, placing a soft kiss to Erin's cheek. "and no. you never made that known, Erin. come on, I know we have our differences sometimes but we're meant to be."
"meant to be my ass." Danny mumbled softly. "I'll see you in English, I guess, Erin."
"oh uh.. yeah, yeah." Erin replied with a soft smile before glaring up at Cole. "I'm serious, Cole. we literally broke up last night. do you not remember fighting? did you not listen to any of the shit I said?"
"no?" Cole questioned, shrugging his shoulders. "c'mon, Erin. we always do this. are we truly over this time?"
"yes." Erin replied, shrugging his arm off her shoulder, gripping onto her purse. "we are. I have to get to class."
