Then there was Callie, known to authoritative figures as Calliope Sinclair. She was a breath of fresh air to the dim atmosphere of Oxford University. Callie showed only a few people her true self; she put shame to all of us who generalized all Americans as doltish and raucous. She had only started Oxford due to her parents wanting more for their sheltered daughter, but only if they knew what she was truly capable of.

Jaques and Evelyn hiding their daughter from the world was a blessing to all. She could be mad at the world for the simplest thing, and it made you want to end the world to make her happy. Felix Catton wasn't the only one to fall for her American accent, dimples, and puppy-like brown eyes. She was a girl you only saw in magazines and films, which is why she fit into Oxford's most elite society.

Calliope held secrets that not many would think she was capable of. It's what drew me to her to begin with. She didn't necessarily lie when it came to her life, but she'd avoid a conversation like it was the black plague. No one really knew how sad the girl truly was deep within, which is why she was always so optimistic. Oxford and Saltburn was her escape from reality, or at least that's what she thought it would be.
