Thalia went straight for Luke. The power of her shield was so great that his dragonwomen bodyguards began to panic, dropping the golden coffin and mostly leaving Luke alone. The rest of the dragonwomen were approached by Christine with her knives. But despite his sickly appearance, Luke was still quick with his sword. He snarled like a wild animal and counterattacked. When his sword, Backbiter, met Thalia's shield, a ball of lightning erupted between them, frying the air with yellow tendrils of power.
As for me and Percy, we did the stupidest thing in each of our life, which is saying a lot. We attacked the Titan Lord Atlas.
He laughed as I approached. A huge javelin appeared in his hands. His silk suit melted into full Greek battle armor. "Go on, then!"
"Orion, Percy!" Zoe said. "Beware!"
I knew what she was warning us about. My dad had told me long ago: Immortals are constrained by ancient rules. But a hero can go anywhere, challenge anyone, as long as he has the nerve. Once we attacked, however, Atlas was free to attack back directly, with all his might.
I pulled my silver necklace and it turned to a Hunter Knife, but it was made from Silver. Percy swung his sword, and Atlas knocked him aside with the shaft of his javelin. He flew through the air and slammed into a black wall. It wasn't Mist anymore. The palace was rising, brick by brick. It was becoming real. I looked at the titan and raised my knife.
"Fool!" Atlas screamed gleefully, swatting aside one of Zoe's arrows. "Did you think, simply because you could challenge that petty war god, that you could stand up to me?"
The mention of Ares sent a jolt through Percy. He shook off his daze and charged again. If he could get to that pool of water, it could double his strength. The javelins point slashed toward me like a scythe. I ducked under it and slashed. My knife just scratched the armor. Percy tried to attack, but he failed to raise his sword. He tried to dodge, but the javelin caught him in the chest and sent him flying like a rag doll. He slammed into the ground he was at the feet of Artemis, still straining under the weight of the sky.
I could hear my mother yell something, but I was focused on the titan. Atlas was taking his time coming toward me.
"Die, little hero," Atlas said.
He raised his javelin to impale me.
"No!" Zoe yelled, and a volley of silver arrows sprouted from the armpit chink in Atlas's armor.
"ARGH!" He bellowed and turned toward his daughter.
This gave me the opportunity I needed. I slashed his knees. He buckled, then I took my amulet. I punched my amulet in his face, and it began to glow. Atlas bellowed and he blindly waved his javelin. I began to punch him.
If you ask me if I have ever fought a titan, then I can answer like this: I not only fought a titan, I fist fight a titan.
I punched him and dodged out of his javelin when he blindly slashed around. It was not working that well, but after a while, his armor began to bulk under my fists. He regained his sight, then he slashed my side with his javelin, and I was shot backwards. I landed next to Percy. He looked defeated, but he was looking at Annabeth struggling.
"Zoe, Christine! Keep him busy" I yelled, and they obliged, peppering him with arrows.
"Percy, we can't win against a titan. We need a god." I looked at Percy and he looked at Artemis holding the sky. He turned to her.
"The sky," he told the goddess. "Give it to me."
"No, boy," Artemis said. Her forehead was beaded with metallic sweat, like quicksilver. "You don't know what you're asking. It will crush you!"
