AND IF WE GO SOMEPLACE TO DANCE, I KNOW THAT THERE'S A CHANCE

MAY 30 20XX.

I have not seen mother in so long yet she does leave money for me to take and use. I do not know when she gets home, for how long she stays, what she does, and if she has any plans of showing her face to me, but I do know she cares enough that she makes sure that the money is enough to last me a few days.

Mother isn't a very good cook but she's left a note a few times the past few weeks that she bought groceries, perhaps I'm hungry enough to cook something that requires more than just instant noodles and some toasts.

So far, I've made some curry, omurice, kimchi fried rice, different kinds of pasta, and even some foreign dishes I looked up. I mostly cook vegetable friendly food but when I see something that looks easy to make that has meat then I still try it. I'm not exactly a vegetarian or a vegan, I just like veggies more.

So for the past few days, I brought home cooked meals with me to school, just to save money and to share some with Akashi-san.

Just a week ago, Akashi-san started to eat with me at my table. We were both quiet as we ate but sometimes he'd bring up some things we both liked such as shogi and horse riding.

He has a beautiful horse and so did I, but not until she died several years ago.

As we ate together, we would either talk about different things or we'd be as quiet as a library.

Whenever I'd bring up something I like, Akashi-san would listen intently, asking the most specific questions that made me talk more and even comparing or connecting with something he likes.

And whenever Akashi-san would do the talking, my ears heard only his voice, not the noise from the cafeteria or the voices of other students. His interests were quite uncommon, but that's probably because only rich people usually had those kind of interests, much like horse riding, and it just so happened that I like it as well.
