prologue - Intertwined Fates
Third person pov
IN A WORLD WHERE A HIDDEN SOCIETY of people with unique abilities live their lives in secret fighting inner dimensional threats that tries to destroy the world.
Each of their powers are mostly based on the nature elements. Fire, water, earth and air. Except the power of light and dark which was based on the sun and moon. Each one of them was more dangerous then the other but the most dangerous of them all are the light and darkness. It was said that they possess the power of life and death, the ability to create and destroy life as we know it. The perfect balance between each other. That's why four of the elements seem to increase rapidly in numbers, and light and dark only seemed to appear in a pair whenever a big dangerous threat rises trying to destroy earth. It was said that their powers is so strong indevisually, that they couldn't handle it on their own that it drove them mad until they snap. that's why they need an anchor to keep them grounded.
Only four pairs were ever chosen throughout the time the elementals were on earth and all of them had the same life story with the same beautiful beginning and the same, very tragic ending. A life meant to be lived and then to die far too young, every single time. It didn't matter how or what lifetime. One always dies while the other will be driven to madness everytime. In every lifetime.
And this time was no different. The elemental had lived for a long time in the shadows making sure the world does not end and that their society does not get discovered until two centuries ago the government discovered their secret on accident and begin to fear them when they saw how powerful they were declaring them none sentient beings. The elemental tried to explain to them that just because they are born with unique abilities does not make them any less of a human but they would not listen and declared war on their people.
And In the midst of their final battle Freya the light elemental got killed which sent her other half Damian the shadow user into a spiral and send him into a deep depression that turned his grief into hatred, setting him of into a killing spree which destroyed buildings and killed thousands. His brutality and cruel behaviour got him a name among the people, Azrael the angel of death for all the death that surround him and the amount of people he killed.
His powers got stronger, his behaviour more unstable and killed so many that the elementals were forced to stop him from destroying anymore of the world by putting him in a hell dimension trapping him there with no way out.
The US government never found out what the elementals did for them by trapping Damian in that hell dimension and thought that they won and as time went by the US government killed and imprisoned many of the elementals forcing them back into hiding.
As the years passed, the people begin to forget about the battle of Azrael and Damian in general but slowly his presence return as the prison cell they trapped him in slowly begin to unravel, leaving cracks beneath the surface leaking bits and pieces of their dimension into the real world.
The cracks started out small, only leaking a radioactive toxin that slowly started to make people sick and then killed them and as time went on the cracks grown bigger and bigger which let to more dangerous unknowns from the world below start to crawl their way out. Settings free horrific monsters into the world above. By then almost half the world got infected by the radiation and died and those who didn't die got killed by the monsters.
Which forced the government to evacuate the last remaining people alive to a save radioactive free zone that was an island name Illyria right off the coast of North America. Where they created a save haven for the people, where they can start fresh with a new military created to fight monsters and defend the people from any coming threat and a new government system that rule the small country with an iron fist.
A new world that revolves around fighting, survival, unknown powers and death.
Now one hundred years later since Azrael destroyed half of the world and set it into a new era of choas and destruction. a new pair has been chosen but their beginning was not as beautiful and easy as the rest.
Elias Black and Sebastien Gray were complete opposite of each other. While one is wild and impulsive, the other calm and calculated, complete opposites of each other; a perfect balance, a pair truly meant to meet.
It was a meeting that they will remember for years to come not because it was the day that they first come to weirdly hate-like one another but because their weird friendship would set off chains of events that will change their lives forever.
It was the day it all changed when their fates intertwined. Also known as the day fate chosen them as the new protectors. Now they have powers they can't control as the universe keep pushing them together.
Between being on the run from the government. Trying to hide from every known mercenary, assassins and monsters that was trying to kill them and trying to save the world from being destroyed by a shadow powered divine being that is hell bent on destroying the world.
Will Elias and Sebastien be able to put their differences asides and work together or is history bound to repeat itself ?
