Days had passed since I found myself transported to this world and I made sure to use those days wisely. My sanctuary became the grand Rocherlieu library because while I was remained grounded for the time being, I buried my nose in each book I could get my hands on in this library while also taking down notes on every noble family and memorizing their names in my head and their contributions to the Imperial Family and some other notable contributions they did for the palace.
Basically why they're important people and shit like that. I have a feeling I will need this because I do definitely do not want to die by taking the footsteps of Delancy for being stupid.
To my surprise, I discovered that the Rocherlieu family wielded even more influence than the book had led me to believe. We possessed vast properties rich in valuable minerals, making us a key supplier of these essential resources. Take precious jewels like diamonds as an example.
Not only that, our family stood at the forefront of providing capable military men which further solidified our position as a leading noble family in all of noble families. It's no wonder the Vermillion saws Rocherlieu as their only marriage option. The Rocherlieus are a valuable asset to the kingdom now and for many generations ahead.
I sighed, feeling a headache as I rubbed my temples to soothe it, closing the book I was currently reading in the process.
"The History of the Vermillions."
It was written by some journalist, an avid fan of the blue-bloods or something.
"Ugh..." I groaned as I felt another headache.
Reading books for three days straight with barely any rest and memorizing tons of information and names reminded me of cramming for finals back home, where I pulled two all-nighters to burn every detail into my brain just to have the dates wrong and that finals was set on November 15 and not November 14.
Leaning back in the plush chair, I exhaled deeply and closed my eyes, feeling drained. I didn't even notice the door opening until the person who entered cleared their throat and knocked twice.
"Y/n? I brought you macarons and chamomile tea," Philomena said, balancing a tray of food in her hands.
I opened my eyes to see her and quickly sat upright, moving the books on the table to make room for the treats. She carefully placed the tray in front of me and smiled. My face remained stoic, a bit starstruck and surprised by her visit.
I snapped out of my thoughts when she tilted her head slightly to the side. "Thank you..." I murmured.
Her smile widened, and I swore I could see flowers and sunlight framing her.
'The power of being the female lead, I guess.'
"I noticed you've been reading for days. It's the first time I've seen you like this," Philomena said, her deep red eyes shining as she tucked a strand of her pale blonde hair behind her ear.
I said nothing.
So if this was the first time they saw Delancy studying then what the hell did she do in her free time?!
"Well, I hope you like the snack I brought, and don't work yourself too hard," she added, giving me one last warm smile before turning on her heel and leaving the library.
Alone again, I looked at the tray of food she had brought and took the teacup, bringing the sweet scent of chamomile to my nose. A whiff of the tea instantly made me relax as I carefully blew on it before sipping.
I smiled at the taste. Good. It was sweet.
"At least I'm familiar with the foods here," I said quietly to myself, deciding to take a rest for the day.
