no risk, no story
🩰The group went to a coffee shop close by Karasuno. A homey atmosphere welcomed them inside with a scent of fresh brewed coffee. Ayumi and Raura seems to know their way around the café due to frequent visits.
"You always convince me to buy the same thing over and over so I'm gonna try something new." Ayumi told her friend, eyeing the board on top of the counter. Raura glared at her, annoyed.
"Because you're indecisive."
Ayumi groaned, "Shut up I'm not!"
"Mhn, sure." Raura agreed jokingly as she eyed the baked pastries.
Behind the two girls, Sugawara and Morimoto stood next to each other. His eyes darted towards Chio, trying to find a way to start a conversation with her. She held her backpack straps loosely with her hands, her back straight and shoulders rested. Her doe eyes would glance over the big blackboard menu next to the cupboards behind the counter.
He fixed his throat, grabbing her attention.
"Morimoto-san, what are you getting?"
Chio turned her head to look at him and shrugged, "Not sure, I've never been here before so I don't know what to expect."
His mouth dropped agape.
"Really? You haven't been here before?"
She shook her head.
"I had to move transfer schools so I'm not quite familiar with Karasuno neighborhoods." She admitted bashfully.
Sugawara smiled, "What school did you go to before?"
"Aoba Johsai." Chio replied. "I've been there since middle school."
Sugawara looked taken aback as she admitted that she was from their rival school. "Aoba Johsai... You must know Oikawa then, correct?"
Chio nodded, "Yep. We used to be in the same class together."
"You must miss your friends, huh?" Sugawara asked with a small sympathetic smile. She just shrugged and pursed her lips together into a fine line.
"Mm, not really. Didn't have many good memories so I don't have anyone to miss." Chio said.
She looked at Sugawara's eyes and had a tiny smile on her lips.
"I'm happy that I'll be able to make some here in Karasuno."
Badump... badump...
Sugawara's cheek color brightened and nodded enthusiastically.
Chio fixed her throat, her eyes darting back towards the big board.
"Can I get you something?" She asked. "Since... you gave me your jacket yesterday, I want to repay you."
Sugawara shook his head, "You don't have to do that!"
"I know, but I want to." Chio persuaded even more. She got up to the counter and looked behind to Sugawara. "Do you like the ice caramel late?"
The boy couldn't make up any words so he just nodded slowly. His effort to cooperate made Chio to smile and got his drink of choice.
"You know you really didn't have to do that, Morimoto-san. You returned my blazer clean and that's a lot of effort right there—"
Chio shushed him by bringing her palm up to his mouth and looked straight into his grey eyes.
"You sure do talk a lot..." she murmured, watching his face turn red after she says that.
She sits next to Ayumi while Sugawara sits the opposite of her whose face is still very pink in color.
"Damn, Koushi-kun. You can go to the festival as a tomato mascot because your face matches the perfect shade of red." Ayumi teased with a smirk. "I bet you'll capture a lot of attention."
Sugawara groaned and pressed the drink Chio bought to his cheeks, "Quit it, Ayu..."

After the whole planning of the Fall Festival, the Karasuno kids decided on operating the whole bake sale. Asahi and Raura partnered up to work on the marketing the bake sale while Sato, Ayumi, Chio, and Sugawara decided to work on the goods to sell at the festival.
Ayumi groaned, "I can't make anything else other than popcorn in the microwave, do you really need me here?"
Sato rolled her eyes at Ayumi's uncooperativeness.
"Either you help us bake or you clean after we bake."
Ayumi's face immediately turned into disgust. The thought of a messy kitchen triggered her OCD right away. However, everyone who is close enough to Ayumi know she's a clean freak and would scrub every single crevice of dirt out there.
Perhaps Ayu's hyper fixation lies on cleaning which can't be that bad, right?
"I'll do the last one. As long as I don't have to wake up early." Ayumi yawned as she checked the time.
It was already past 8:30pm, the sky already had stars up in the sky.
Raura looked out the window of the coffee shop and sighed. "Let's wrap it up here. It's getting late and my mom will definitely kill me if I get home any later than 9."
Everyone agreed and got up from the table. Sugawara walked over to Chio and gave her a bright smile.
"Morimoto-san, would you like to walk together?"
Chio was surprised by the offer as she adjusted her bag on her shoulder.
"Um... don't you live close-by?"
Asahi interfered between the two's conversation, "Suga lives like 30 mins away from the school."
"Oh really?"
Chio raised an eyebrow at Sugawara for lying to her yesterday when it was pouring cats and dogs. Sugawara gave Asahi an awkward grimace, eying him to get out of their business.
Asahi sweated and immediately changed his tone. "B-But what do I know? It's not like I've been to his house every week since the past three years...." he trailed as he backed off.
Sugawara chuckled awkwardly as his mind couldn't find an excuse to cover up his own white lie.
"Um... yeah- no like... uhh—"
"So you ran in the rain for thirty minutes yesterday?" Chio cracked a smile, her eyes glistening with curiosity.
She found him... cute... for doing that for her.
Sugawara's mouth felt dry as he nodded shyly.
Oh, how embarrassing.
"Well then... sure." Chio said, fiddling with the straps of her bag. "I'll walk with you."
