Nyeesha Brooks

I woke up the next morning feeling lonely. I truly missed Chance and none of this bullshit that was happening was helping. I couldn't stomach the fact that Cass thought it was okay to bring that bitch around me. She knew better but it's okay I'll be fine without her.

I got out of bed and dragged myself to the bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my teeth before getting into the shower. I then pulled out my red dress and black blazer before putting it on. Church was all I needed this morning and it was going to be great. Before I headed to church I decided to go see my father. I guess I shouldn't hold this grudge forever and see what he wants.

I got dressed and drove to the group home downtown.

"Hello I'm here to see Malcolm Brooks, I'm his daughter Nyeesha" I stated to the receptionist at the front desk.

"Malcolm, Malcolm, Malcolm," she said trying to remember who he was. "Oh yeah Malcolm," she said. "Hold on one second," she stated before she walked away from the desk leaving me there standing awkwardly.

"Nyeesha," I heard my dad call me. "You actually came," he smiled.

"Yeah," I mumbled before he pulled me in for a hug.

"I truly missed you," he said before we started walking to the lobby area where some seats were located. "Have you spoken to your brother?" he asked which made me tear up.

"No," I said as I fanned my eyes. "We don't speak," I said as I grabbed a tissue from my purse trying my hardest not to cry.

"Why not?" he asked.

"We'll talk about that at another time, and why you're in this group home for battered men," I said as I eyed him. "You can come over for dinner tonight, I'll pick you up." I told him.

"Okay baby girl, I'm going to go see your mom tonight too." he said. "Can she come as well?"

"Nah," I said. "Just you,"

"We'll discuss that later too, see you later baby girl" he said as he gave me another hug.

"Bye dad," I said before I left.

I then drove to church.

"You looking good today beautiful," I heard a voice say in my ear scaring me as I was gathering my things to leave church.

I then turned around seeing it was Chance.

"Don't be pulling up on me like that" I said. "You're here early" I said as I smiled.

"All for you," he replied. "We having a big family dinner tonight at my parent's house.

"What?" I said.

"Don't worry, everyone loves you now." he said. "Even my mother" he smiled.

"Good, but why are we having a big dinner? Who coming?" I asked.

"My parents, grandparents, cousins, Taylor, of course, and some other relatives." he told me.

"What's the occasion?" I said as I went to greet his family.

"It's a surprise." he said.

"Okay," I mumbled before hugging Grandma Bennett.

"Hey baby," she smiled. "You look gorgeous. I hope you're ready for dinner,"
